AFTER ALL THE HYPE THAT DISNEYS CARS BROUGHT..HERE WAS THE NEXT HYPE RATATOUILLE..

WELL LET ME TELL YOU FIRST HAND THAT IS WAS WORTH THE WAIT..
The voice talent: Patton Oswalt, Ian Holm, Lou Romano, Brian Dennehy, Peter Sohn, Peter O’Toole, Brad Garrett, Janeane Garofalo, Will Arnett, Julius Callahan, James Remar, John Katzenberger and Teddy Newton. Original story by Jan Pinkava, Jim Capobianco and Brad Bird. Screenwriter and director. Brad Bird. Rated: G. Running time: 111 mins.

Though it is a Pixar feature, Ratatouille is not a kids’ film. It is a feature the entire family can enjoy. In fact, adults may get a bigger charge than the youngsters.

In a sense, Ratatouille is a story about fulfilling one’s dreams, about going beyond preconceived boundaries and following your heart.

Making the lead character a rat is a brilliant stroke. Rat and restaurants go as well together as Paris Hilton and jail cells, so the idea of watching Remy choosing herbs, spices and sauces to create various dishes is not only funny — it plays against expectations and raises the humor.

Ratatouille is loads of fun, even at nearly two hours. The time flies and the laughs are constant. This is a feature for which you may want to go back for seconds.

THIS IS A MUST BUY MOVIE TO ADD TO YOUR DISNEY COLLECTION..

COMES OUT NOVERMBER 6, 2007

Cute movie but not one to watch again & again
Review created: 02/18/08

This is a cute movie and is good for all ages, however unlike CARS, ICE AGE, TOY STORY, etc it is not one to watch again & again. My recommendation is rent this one.

If you do want to buy it the Blu-ray audio & video are the best Blu-ray has to offer, being a digitally made movie it transfers to Blu-ray flawlessly.

Extras are OK. The are geared to the adult and older teen not small kids, not because of adult subject matter just because young kids would be bored to tears with the extras.

Also there are "hidden secret" extras or "easter eggs": From the full menu screen when Remy & Emile roll the cheese wheel scroll to the "Features" selection then scroll "left" and the hidden extras will appear.

If my reviews help you decide to buy or not buy please click [YES] and follow the link to my other reviews for HONEST reviews. I never over hype an item - I am a buyer as often as I am a seller, just check my feedback. Thanks!

I enjoyed some of the clever jokes and scenes throughout the movie. I believe that it is up there with other good animations like Shrek and Finding Nemo.

Ratatouille was a great movie. I think I was more into the movie than my 2 and 5 year old. Graphics were extraordinary, considering it was on blu-ray. The story line was excellent!

This is a Review I saw in the New York Times and thought you might want to see it.

"The moral of “Ratatouille” is delivered by a critic: a gaunt, unsmiling fellow named Anton Ego who composes his acidic notices in a coffin-shaped room and who speaks in the parched baritone of Peter O’Toole. “Not everyone can be a great artist,” Mr. Ego muses. “But a great artist can come from anywhere.” Quite so. Written and directed by Brad Bird and displaying the usual meticulousness associated with the Pixar brand, “Ratatouille” is a nearly flawless piece of popular art, as well as one of the most persuasive portraits of an artist ever committed to film. It provides the kind of deep, transporting pleasure, at once simple and sophisticated, that movies at their best have always promised. Its sensibility, implicit in Mr. Ego’s aphorism, is both exuberantly democratic and unabashedly elitist, defending good taste and aesthetic accomplishment not as snobbish entitlements but as universal ideals. Like “The Incredibles,” Mr. Bird’s earlier film for Pixar, “Ratatouille” celebrates the passionate, sometimes aggressive pursuit of excellence, an impulse it also exemplifies." — A. O. Scott, The New York Times

  Can Rats Really Cook?
Review created: 02/15/08
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

My wife was grossed out by the thought of rats cooking in the kitchen, but my boys and I enjoyed this fun, crazy animation. To say that it is far out is an understatement, but it is very cute and enjoyable. Most animations cause me to lose interest pretty quickly, but this one kept me watching (most of the time). If you have kids or want to be a kid again, this is a good one to pass the time.

  Gastronomical Greatness!!

First off, this is one of the best looking movies available on Blu Ray. If you have been looking for that movie that shows off the difference between Hi Def and Standard Televisions, this is the one you need to have. It is so crystal clear and lifelike that you almost get lost in the visual beauty of the film.

Second, the sound is fantastic. It comes in 5.1 Dolby Digital Surround, so those of you with a decent sound system will truly escape in the sound. The film makes great us of the entire set up with voices and ambient noises coming from all directions.

Third, this is just a great movie. It has a much more endearing story than "Cars" and you will be laughing and maybe even crying by the end of the movie.

Fourth, there are some hilarious and informative extras available.

This movie is a great pick up and is well worth the added price of the Blu Ray disc...a definite buy!

Pixar has certainly outdone themselves with Ratatouille
Review created: 09/03/07
by:
2 of 3 people found this review helpful.

Pixar has certainly outdone themselves with the animated feature Ratatouille; the story of a young rat named Remy who pairs up with the imbecile (but well meaning) Linguini to form one of the greatest culinary talents Paris has ever seen.

Much has been said of the “if you put your mind to it” angle as well as the staple stereotypes (e.g., “don’t go near humans,” etc.). But what really struck me was what the critique, Anton Ego (voiced by legendary actor Peter O’Toole) said as he was pondering what to write in his food column.

“In many ways, the work of a critic is easy. We risk very little yet enjoy a position over those who offer up their work and their selves to our judgment. We thrive on negative criticism, which is fun to write and to read. But the bitter truth we critics must face is that, in the grand scheme of things, the average piece of junk is more meaningful than our criticism designating it so. But there are times when a critic truly risks something, and that is in the discovery and defense of the new. Last night, I experienced something new, an extraordinary meal from a singularly unexpected source. To say that both the meal and its maker have challenged my preconceptions is a gross understatement. They have rocked me to my core. In the past, I have made no secret of my disdain for Chef Gusteau's famous motto: Anyone can cook. But I realize that only now do I truly understand what he meant. Not everyone can become a great artist, but a great artist can come from anywhere. It is difficult to imagine more humble origins than those of the genius now cooking at Gusteau's, who is, in this critic's opinion, nothing less than the finest chef in France. I will be returning to Gusteau's soon, hungry for more.”

Critics in most circles usually have the necessary machinery to get their message across and as Anton Ego pointed out, they –“thrive on negative criticism” – as this is what causes controversy; a demand; and in most cases, even a need. But Ego also makes his readers (or in the case of the movie, listeners) realize is that despite what any one critic or person says, the most important opinion is that of your own.

Well, that’s what I got out of it. What did you get out of it?

Hey, I'm 76 and maybe going through my second childhood but I thoroughly enjoyed the show. Funny, funny lines and situations, all improbable but what the devil it was funny.

Blu-ray only makes it better.

Ratatouille: Good for kids and adults
Review created: 06/07/08

1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

Ratatouille is a heart-warming tale that teaches us to look beyond the exterior of others to see the person who lies within. For kids, the movie is colorful and fast-paced, keeping even my 18 month0old grandson watching for periods of time (how long is an 18 month-old going to sit still for anything?).

For adults, the complexity of the characters is brought out in facial expressions and gestures that the animation team must have really labored over.

We were familiar with the story line because we have had the DVD version for several months. But, I have to tell you that watching this Blu-ray version was a whole new experience! This picture is just incredible. Details such as bubbles under water or small food ingredients like parsley seem to come to life in high definition.

Pixar films are the best to get on Blu-ray
Review created: 06/04/08

If you like Blu-ray titles, you'll love how Pixar films look on Blu-ray. And if you like Pixar films, Ratatouille is one of the best! The expressions are priceless, no matter how many times I watch it over again. Storyline is light-hearted and set against the Paris backdrop, it makes for easy watching. The only thing to get over is that the protagonist is always American (Remy and less credibly, Linguini). But I love food, Paris, and a good laugh, so what the heck. Anyway, watching Pixar and Brad Bird's magic on high definition is a worthwhile experience, so Ratatouille is a keeper!
