Rat Patrol - The Complete Series (DVD, 2008, 7-Disc Set)

Based loosely on a true story, (the adventures of British SAS forces in WWII North Africa) this potent action-adventure tells of the exploits of a small group of American soldiers, assigned to harass members of the vaunted Nazi Afrika Corps by raiding their supply lines; tooling around in Army jeeps mounted with .50 calibre machine guns, attacking their convoys of fuel, food and water; as well as taking on the ocassional intelligence mission that would happen their way.

The leader was SGT STEVE TROY (CHRISTOPHER GEORGE), who commanded two Jeeps with four men, one being SGT MOFFITT (GARY RAYMOND), a BRITISH TOMMIE assigned for a special mission it the pilot episode, deciding to stick around especially after Troy's recommendation.

PVTS HITCHCOCK (LAWERANCE CASEY) and PETTIGREW (JUSTIN TARR) rounded out the cast as the 'wheelmen' of the two modified GI issued Jeeps.

Their arch nemisis was Captain Dietrch (HANS GUDEGAS, aka ERIC BRADEN), a German officier who had several run-ins with the Rat Patrol, earning a featured role in the cast.

Filmed in Spain, where a large amount of German war surplus equipment was stored, the producers made the most of this, as well as the local desert locations where the cast performed.

A drawback has to be the limitations that allowed only 30-minute episodes than the standard 1 hour U.S. TV audiences were used to, though the cast offered action a plenty in spite of this.

I have long been a fan of this show, especially during its initial network run in 1964-66 on ABC, and am pleased now to have the whole series available on DVD, without cuts, commercials; when I want to see it.

In my surfing of EBAY, I have seen other obsure series offered, which may now be available to scores of devoted fans like myself who missed qualiy TV, especially those series having departed long before their time.

Great series... If you like Combat! you will enjoy this too. This program is geared towards the desert campaign in North Africa and presents a very different type of engagement from the amphibious/Normandy/paratrooper/Band of Brothers profile. Very enjoyable and has some good story lines along with the action.

Disc quality is good and displays well even on very large TV formats.

As we all know the programs on broadcast and cable television is far from the quality shows of yesteryear and this is the best way to remedy the situation. I have purchased a number of movies and television series that remind me of my childhood with the entire family enjoying true acting and story lines. I enjoy both the memories and the great entertainment.

I never can understand how a seller puts something up for sale, a person buys it and then ya get a message the seller does not have it....How can you sell something you dont have...??? How can ya even put something up for auction with having it physically in your possion...??? There should be penalties for this like double your money back, really ticks me off as an honest seller and buyer.

Received item fast and as described. This is a Christmas gift so we have not opened the DVD yet to see if it works. I would buy from seller again though.

My Dad loved this show and watched it when it 1st aired. I watched it with him and although I thought they were showing the same show each week, he explained to me that was how it was when there is nothing but sand everywhere you look. .. Fond memories of childhood and special times spent with my dad were the reasons I bought this DVD SET for him as a gift.

This show is really for the guys who love war movies and shows.

i highly recommend buying complete series instead of buying seasons one at a time. it's much cheaper & definitly worth the money. expecially for rat patrol. it's a great series though it only lasted for two seasons.

If you grew up watching the Rat Patrol TV show like I did, this is just the collection for you. When I was a kid, all we had was a Black & White TV set to watch the show. 45+ years later I am viewing the show in Color for the first time. I never knew the German Tanks were Mustard Color.
Anyway, a blast from the past! Quality of the episodes appears better then the first run shows. Color is vibrant and sound quality is good. A decent transfer from the original Film.

I liked this show as a kid and enjoy it every bit as much now !! DVD box set is 7 disc plain packaging dvd extras are nice . Overall just a set for people who really enjoyed watching the show!!!

I had loved Rat Patrol as a youth and had been thinking about the show for a few days. I thought I would look on Ebay for the entire collection and of course Ebay had it listed. The shipping was FAST and I watched the DVDS for several hours as soon as they arrived. The show brought me back in time to a place and that I loved.

Had been looking for this for awhile. Loved the show. This was at a good price and gave me both seasons in one package.

We Love old movies, It brings back memories. I use to watch this with my DAD when I was young . I have already wathed a few of them. I also work on a ship and I can't get TV very often so I can watch , these movies and share them with the other guys on the ship. I will use this person againhe has qulity stuff.

Quality was great. I had recordings from TV and these are far superior!!!
So glad they put it out on DVD!
