Amazing Movie BEST Rambo Yet! " Testosterone " at work
Review created: 09/09/08

Let me start out by saying I loved this movie. Stallone is one of my favorite action stars of all time and I loved the original Rambo and Rocky movies as a kid. I guess like most kids the idea of a super strong and powerful guy always appealed to me. The " Superhero " complex takes over and you just cant help but root for him. As we grow up we more often then not begin to realize that these so called superhero's aren't real. Not only are they not real in the movies, as we found out over the past few months some are not even real in real life.
This movie shows Stallones dedication to working out, working on movies and staying young. As we all know he got busted flying in to Australia with viles of Human Growth Hormone and Testosterone to film this movie. When asked he readily admitted to using this stuff through out his 20+ year career. I am not looking down on him by any means. We all want to stay young, live forever and be a Superhero and this movie reminds us that even though we are grown up, with a little help from " Anti Aging Therapy " we can still attain " Superhero " status.

Rambo is a new movie that was released by Sly as he revisits the second of his franchise characters.

This movie finds a small intro that is very violent about troubles in Burma. It is basically newsreel type quality. This sets the stage for the bad guys in the movie.

The story finds Rambo capturing cobra's and other snakes (NOT RATTLESNAKES!) in the jungle. He is recruited by missionaries to take them up the river to Burma.

Eventually the missionaries are captured and Rambo takes a group of mercenaries that have been hired to rescue the missionaries up to Burma.

It is at this point that we get past the quiet brooding Rambo and we see the action that we remember from Rambo. There is the arrow attacks, the big guns, personal attacks with a machete/knife.

The main difference between the other Rambo movies and this one is the level of violence. Blood is flying, guts are spilling, limbs are flying, and the odd head ends up on a stick. It is very violent and lots of bullets are fired. Be careful with this movie with younger children.

4/5

  Rambo

I bought this movie just to have the complete set and I was curious to see how they would pull this off. My favorite Rambo was First Blood. The next two were not particularly memorable. Now this one has potential if you like action. The action is quite brutal, resembling Saving Private Ryan. But hey, they are bad guys. Stallone does a good job acting the part of John Rambo, the way we might think he would be 20 years after Viet Nam. He has a soft heart for a missionary, gets in trouble and then blasts his way out. A lot of bad guys pay the price. What a ride. The Special Features are very interesting. The plot of this movie takes place in Burma and the movie mirrors some of the conditions in that country. Filmed in Thailand.

  rambo special edition

I was looking for this movie with the special features and did not feel like spending $28.00 for it. Ebay saved me some hard earned $$. This is a great action movie and at 60 years of age Sly still delivers. If you have not seen this movie you are missing out, while your at it buy all 4 RAMBO movies. Run, don't walk to locate RAMBO and it's prequel's.

I had my doubts, but he pulled it off!
Review created: 10/25/08

Another Rambo? Yawn...I wasn't expecting a lot, but I AM a Rambo fan. I was able to keep up with the action only if I didn't blink! It was very fast-paced and the special effects were amplified with subtle animation which gave a startling/sickening impression lasting milliseconds. The Bad Guys are Burmese pirates and they deserve everything they get, including being blown to smithereens, and you get to watch which way each piece flies! Not for the faint hearted.

I couldn't have asked for a better Rambo movie. In the end, every Rambo plot is the same, but this one hard a real world, current affairs thing going. I was very realistic (mostly) and nothing was held back. Viewer discretion is advised. Hope blood doesn't make you queezy!

  RAMBO-LICIOUS
Review created: 06/22/08

What a great movie! Let me say off the bat that I was biased AGAINST this movie. Case in point, I didn't think that they could pull off a brand new Rambo. They managed to prove me wrong and do it with a 80s feel to match. I hear that they are doing a sequel to this one and can only bow and clap my hands. Well done, Stallone.

Well done.

  Violent, but realistic
Review created: 05/27/08

This movie is one of the most violent movies ever, but this is how it is in Myanmar right now. When is saw the movie in theatres, there were people complaining about how violent it was. ITS A RAMBO MOVIE!!! What do you expect? Go watch Horton Hears a Hoo if this is too intense! As for the movie itself, i liked it. Violent, but realistic. The movie had a good plot to it and the acting was actually pretty good. Stallone is in remarkable shape for a man his age and really goes out with a bang (literally) as he ends the Rambo series on a positive note. If you like the other Rambo movies, then this one will not disappoint! The Italian Stallion lives on!!

  A modern 80s action movie
Review created: 05/18/08

Rambo is an 80s-style action movie with modern sensibilities. Stallone is not a one-man army as in previous movies but rather a dogged old soldier that comes to terms with what he actually is while racking up a body count that would make Tarintino proud. In many ways, this movie parallels Rocky Balboa as a mature ending to a series of sometimes over-the-top but fun action movies. John Rambo in this movie is an aging but potent killing machine that for the first time since First Blood accomplishes his mission in a very believable manner. The action is visceral and downright gory at times surpassing the hard-core scenes of Omaha Beach in Saving Private Ryan. The film pulls no punches when showing exactly what a Barret .50 caliber sniper rifle can do to a human body. Stallone mutters only a very few lines of dialog in this movie... there's no speeches or patriotic flag waving going on here but there is a clear lesson on how well liberal idealism holds up under barbaric realities amid genocide and war.
