Raising Maidens of Virtue by Stacy McDonald (2004, Book, Illustrated)

Recently, I purchased the book Raising Maidens of Virtue by Stacy McDonald. I have read the book before and absolutely loved it. I wanted to share the topics and ideas with my young daughter, so I decided to purchase it myself. This book does a fantastic job of really reaching out to girls who are struggling with worldly influences vs. becoming the Godly woman that the Lord has created us to be. There is nothing about this book that I do not want to share with my daughter. My daughter and I are a part of a group we call Mothers and Maidens. We meet monthly to discuss topics related to godly character for women. We have a lesson, tea, and are making scrapbooks to go along with each theme. This year, we began going through Raising Maidens of Virtue, chapter by chapter, for our monthly lessons. We have wonderful discussions, and this book lends itself beautifully for small or large groups. I highly recommend this book for all mothers and all daughters who wish to grow in their high and prescious calling as girls, daughters, sisters, wives, and mothers. Buy it...you will not be disappointed!

This book is a must have for every mother of a daughter! Any person of any Christian faith would appreciate this fabulous look at womanhood without the world's filter of what is beautiful and right. One of my favorite books of all time. I purchased 3 for friends after I got mine and plan to purchase more!!!

I am a Pastor who is always on the look out for good material to put into the hands of our families and young people in a day and age when the term "christian" covers a plethera of ideas in the minds of people. I was pleasantly pleased to find a book that my wife and daughter(age nine) can use as a tool in discussing their role as ladies. I appreciate the biblical directness of the book. My "ladies" are enjoying it immensely. May the Lord bless your family.

This is an excellent study for mothers and daughters, or for older daughters, or just women who are seeking encouragement in their femininity. It seems to be written for a 13-17 age group, but older girls can be inspired by it, as well.

Chapters cover relationships in and outside the home, ethics, ideals, homemaking, purity, and, of course, femininity. Most chapters include an anecdote, a discussion of the topic, and questions for further conversation. There are projects and activities at the back of the book, along with lists of other books and resources.
