Rain of Gold by Victor Villasenor (1992, Paperback, Reprint)

this book made me realize the importance of a family. i read some pages over and over to make sure i fully understood every message the author was trying to give. i have also brought more books for family members. i strongly recommend this book to everyone.

The mostly true story follows two families exodus from Old Mexico, to the United States. The stories converge when The slightly crooked hero marries the Angel. The stories are full of interest and insight into the seperate reasons for leaving their traditional homes. How the families choose to make a living once they come to the states is compelling as well. The entire story moves the reader along, compelling one to turn the next page. Altogether, a good read.

It was a perfect transaction, came when they promised and came in great packaging, the transaction was flawless and it was an A+++++++ in my book!!

I call this a gulity pleasure because it was a joy to read but brought about pangs of guilt in that I do not know my family lineage as well as I should.

This work of non-fiction brings the Mexican days of old to the written page. The author chronicles the lives of his parent and grand-parents in this page turner. I sat down to to read this and found myself reading non stop and having to go back and reread sections. Each chapter should be read and absorbed.

A young man tries to sell water that he has discovered from a special fall but is laughed at. The shop keeper notices the gilt colored rocks and makes an offer for these. This is where the story begins and takes the reader across the mountains and valley of Mexico to the fields of southern California.

The two central characters face a number of hardships in their youth. They are two opposites that are drawn together by a true love that develops and is nourished in a courtship that was ingrained in the people of that time.

The book looked like it was in good condition so I decided to buy it. It was as it was listed and that was good. It seem to have taken longer than it should have to arrive and I was disappointed.
