The Rag Coat by Lauren A. Mills (1991, Reinforced Hardcover)

I love the story . The little girl loses her father to black lung disease, then she has no coat to wear for the fall.They were reading the story of Joseph and the coat of many colors and Anna says she wishes she had a coat so she could go to school. So the quilting mothers make a jacket from scrap material. She was soo excited to get a coat and she listened to the stories that the mothers told about the scraps while they sewed. When she went to school the kids made fun of her, very rude. She tells them that her coat was made from their old clothes.

Very heartwarming story. it is a must read. It is a Five in a row book also. The reason I purchased it is because it is a great story and it shows many ways to count your blessings and rise above circumstance.
