Important Issues Addressed in Schaefer's Book

I bought this book because it was a required text for a Sociology class I took on Race and Ethnic Relations in the United States. I am normally not a fan of textbooks because they seem to turn subjects into dry and lifeless accounts of what are often very interesting topics. This was not the case in Schaefer's book. One of the most important things that Schaefer did was highlight current events and how they affect groups of people being discriminated against. This is the first time that I have ever seen the issue of illegal immigration addressed from so many viewpoints. It is also the first time that I have seen the violence addressed that is committed against peaceful Arab Muslims in the U.S. just because they are used as scapegoats for terrorist acts.
