I decided to buy this DVD because I had been listening to the Old Time Radio (OTR) Shows of 'The Shadow' with Orson Welles and Agnes Moorehead. As I researched more about Orson Welles the name Marion Davies kept popping up in the searches.. That ultimately lead all the way to San Simeon and 'Citizen Kane'.

I had seen the movie 'Citizen Kane' a few years ago and liked it.. but the term 'Rosebud' had me in the dark.. Until the research on the web put the puzzle together for me.. Amazing what the Wide World Web will provide. Right down to the detail of what 'Rosebud' meant.

After learning what all that was about, and after seeing what trials and tribulations Orson Welles and the crew went through to write, create and make the movie.. I was sold.. I wanted to see RKO 281.

I enjoyed the adaption and all of the actors. Everyone was at their best in this movie. Makes you wonder what was really on their minds when acting out their roles.

If you want to watch a good movie that has some history to it... just how much is true and how much is fiction is probably in doubt, get this movie.. I would say you will enjoy it.. and it certainly is worth spending some money for.

Hope this helps anyone who is thinking about buying the movie or anyone who just wants to watch some very good acting and a very interesting story that is a great part of the Movie Industry and actors history.

Kind Regards, B. Robert

This is one of my faves! A story based on the true characters of Orson Welles and William Randolf Hearst in a heated battle to have a film released in Hollywood - against all odds. A wonderful film to see the superb acting of such greats as Melanie Griffith, Liev Schreiber, James Cromwell, Roy Scheider and John Malkovich. An amazing depiction of what goes on (or went on) inside the motion picture studio offices and the influence of well-known newspaper columnists had during these times. A flick oozing with action, control, fear, love, destiny, desire, blackmail...all of which were exposed by one man's lust for power. A must see. Intriquing.

I probably watched this movie about 30 times on my worn-out VHS tape and needed it on DVD. I was so pleased to have found it on Half.com/E-bay at a great price and in excellent condition. What a joy!
