Book Review - The Queen of the Damned

This was the second Anne Rice novel I have read and I must say, I enjoyed it. From the beginning Lestat, the main character in the book, is speaking directly to you and you get a very personalized atmosphere right away. I do not want to give anything away in this review, merely compliment what I felt was a good read. There is a lot of detail given regarding the vampires in her world. The parts of the book where back story is given, it is in such a way as not to bore the reader. Instead the book intrigues you as you read so by the time you get to the history and back story sections, you are not only ready to know the scoop, but anxious to power through every last detail to satisfy your curiosity.
PROS - Very fresh read. The characters are very colorful and unique compared to other vampires in other novels.
CONS - With the recent release of the movie, there is a misconception of what this novel is about. I recommend reading this book, even if you didn't like the movie. Enough is the same but so much is different that the book and movie really are, two separate works.
