Queen Bees and Wannabes by Rosalind Wiseman (2003, Paperback, Reprint)

I bought this book because I wanted to better understand my sixteen year old daughter. Her friends are THE most important things to her.

This book helped me to understand, not only the importance of social status to a teenage girl, but also where my own daughter stands within that social 'community' and how she behaves in her position. Learning these things gives parents the opportunity to talk with their daughter in order to ensure that she does what is right regardless of where she stands in the social order of her peers.

I really enjoyed this book and feel that it was work every penny I spent!

I liked how the book described in detail the pecking order in teen social situations. However, there is a lot of sexual content, more descriptive than I cared for, thus making it a book that I felt was inappropriate for my young teen daughter who is not in the "sex scene". I bought it because it was recommended by others struggling with teens and peer pressure.

This was a requirement for the course I am taking. I might not have chosen this book othewise. I thought the descriptions of the different types of girls was interesting and some of the "land mines" were fairly interesting. But there was something about the tone of the book that bugged me. I think the author might have been a Queen Bee.

Saw this book on Today show a week before christmas. My 13 yr old daughter is one of many middle school girls that go through the hard times of gossip, teasing and etc. I ordered the book off of ebay the same day and got it in about 4 days. She hasnt been able to put it down. She would like to start a support group next year when she starts high school for the middle school girls to help out during this hard age. She just wished they we knew about this book 3 yrs ago when she started middle school. She goes to a private school and no matter what kind of school your child goes to its all the same for girls of that age.
