Quantrill's War by Duane Schultz (1996)

I bought this book because some of my ancestors fought on the side of the Confederacy during the Civil War. One of my Grandfathers is mentioned in this book. In my grandfather's obituary it mentioned that he was in the Con- federate Army under General Jo Shelby and was also one of Quantrill's men, so naturally this book appealed to me. The book is well written and full of names and places, so can be of great help to anyone seeking information about the Civil War and in particular about the Kansas "Jayhawkers" and the Missouri "Bushwackers". It gave me great understanding why my grandfather joined Quantrill's men when I read about the terrible atrocities inflicted on him, his family and his property. Although it didn't mention it in this book, this same punishment was also inflicted on his father (my great-grandfather) and some of his brothers. I am a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and my Patriot was my great-great-grandfather, so I have considerable information about each generation of this family, and this book added more. The eBay Seller was tops in every way.
