Pete Townshend at his best. If you ever listened to The Who, you will have to love this. Townshend's lyrics are superb and Roger Daltrey has never sounded better. If you remember this album, but haven't heard it in awhile, listen again what a joy. This is what rock and roll is supposed to be.

I bought it to hear the last part of the album and the first part had some good songs too. This was a really big album when it came out but it has not been as popular as "Who's Next" over the years. the final cut, "Love Reign on Me", is still a song that will give you goosebumps.

  Classic Who

This CD represents the Who near their best. Some of the tracks can be found on various best of CD's, while the majority languish in obscurity. Due to the rock opera style of this album the songs have a greater impact when listened to together and in many cases the more popular tracks uplift the lesser known ones. When listened to in its entirety this is a very good album. It is probably only bested by Who's Next, which IMHO is the best album they have ever done. I definitely recommend it to any Who fan.

Simply put the one Who album everyone should have in their collection. Timely and reticent. The irony of Townsend hits home today just as it did over 35 years ago. Dare I repeat myself....this is a must have for all fans of the Who.

  One of The Who's Best
Review created: 02/05/09(updated 02/05/09)

To me Quadrophenia is one of the Who's best albums, and also one of their most overlooked. Standing in the shadow of Tommy has to be tough, and because of that, with the exception of Love Reign Over Me and MAYBE Can You See The Real Me, there is a ton of great music here that never gets any airplay on the radio, or any props in any album rankings. As with most of Pete Townsends music the songs range between total rockers and slower ballads with just ther right amount of powerchords thrown in. If you've heard the entire album before you know what I mean, and if you haven't, you don't know what your missing!

  The Who During Their Peak
Review created: 01/05/09

An absolutely outstanding album! I'm old enough to remember when this came out, and it was promoted as one of the first "quad" albums, meaning different stereo sound out of 4 speakers instead of 2. The "quad" technology was kind of a flop, because people weren't that impressed, as I was not. I think this hurt "Quadrophenia", thus, not that many people are aware of it...only true fans of The Who. But, this is a classic! Maybe not on level with "Who's Next", but definitely one of their best. I liken it to the Beatles "White Album", also one of their best...it's only drawback being it should have been one disc instead of 2...as is the case with "Quadrophenia". It's definitely in the top 20 Classic Rock CDs of all time! All you Who fans have to add this to your library!
