Qpuncture II by Erik Shanke, Hansen Lee (2002, CD-ROM)

Qpuncture II is a good reference material for the TCM student and practitioner. Principles are excellent - note: practice tongue and pulse diagnosis on A LOT of people to get good. Point location, especially 3D model, is very good. Herbal selection is good, but it doesn't have all the herbs that are going to be on the California State Board Exam, maybe it was geared toward the National. I haven't tried the other modes: Pain Clinic and Auricular. There are limitations, such as resizing, but I have the 2003 copy.

On that note, if you buy it on eBay or any other source beside from their "Official" distributor, you will NOT get technical support. Be Aware of who you are buying it from. If you buy it online or from a store, you have to make sure of:

1. The software MUST BE the current edition. As of 12/08, the current edition is Qpuncture II 2005 edition. I bought it in 2008, and got the 2003. 2003 doesn't work on XP and you need a patch. Tech support will NOT give you the XP patch and won't give you any support in that regards. The ISBN code will be the same, which is what screwed me up. You have to ask, WHAT YEAR is the edition from your vendor. If they don't know, skip it. I bought it for $199, was the $200 savings worth it? Probably not, but I'm pretty tech savvy.

2. The software MUST BE SEALED and the CD-KEY INTACTED AND UNUSED/UNREGISTERED. The software is PROTECTED and it must be original and the CD-Key has to be included. If not, it's pirated. Don't buy pirated software, it won't work and you're breaking the law. It isn't worth your money or your time to mess around with illegal software.

Those two points must be remembered. Otherwise, the software is very good. It follows the Chinese Acupuncture and Moxabustion book (ISBN 7-119-07158-6, UPC 9-787119-017587) and A Manual of Acupuncture by Peter Deadman. There is some small variation in conjunction with Materia Medica (Herbs) because it doesn't contain all the details, just the highlights. You should already have these three books.
