Excellent movie, Currupt cop (Nick Nolte)is a racist discriminative powder keg with a short fuse who covers up a killing of a small time crook and sets it up as self defens. Assistant D.A. (Timothy Hutton)is assigned to the investigation it seems clean cut but his persistance makes him dig deep in the Ivestigation when gangster drug runner & racketeer (Armand Assante)confronts the AssistantD.A. with the reality of curruption in the police force.guaranteed to be one great movie highly recomend.

An often overlooked gem from director Sidney Lumet has great performances by Nick Nolte and Armand Assante. Well structured story and unrepentant gritty dialog.
