Pushing Daisies - The Complete First Season (DVD, 2008, 3-Disc Collector's Set)

From the same people that brought you "Dead Like Me", using that same odd humor that tells you "I shouldn't laugh at this, but its funny". A series that deals with dead people being brought back to life temporarily (usually) by a Pie Maker with a special gift working for a detective to solve crimes.

This DVD contains everything I like about a DVD, without everything I don't like. It has easy-to-navigate menus, an amazingly sharp picture, lots of extra clips, but no annoying "voiceovers" and "Director's Comments". And, the graphic art for the cover, the inside and the inserts are all very true to the Crime Scene Fairy Tale feel of the show.

pushing daises is great series I love the cafe they use as the pie whole everything round and shaped like a pie. the actors are funny and always go to the pie whole for pie after waking the dead to find out who killed them to solve their murder s to claim money for services. you have to watch the series to appreciate the series for the uniqueness of it all .

This is the most creative, artistic program to come out in quite some time! If you love visual shows, this one's for you!

This is a really great show. It reminds me a Tim Burton movie, only less dark Very quirky, extremely funny, the romance between Ned & Charlotte is lovely and so is the passion of Olive for Ned, I watched the series on tv & bought the dvd because its the kind of thing you can watch alot without getting tired of it.

I love this series. The characters are so quirky and unique, and so are the stories. I enjoy how much everything focuses around pie, and the difficulties of Ned's gift.

Innovative and refreshing program. Ned and Charlotte's childhood romance blooms only when Charlotte dies and Ned uses his power of touch to resurrect her back to life and into his "sheltered" life. The plots are inventive so you get romance, comedy, mystery, and sensitivity to the value of human relationships.
We bought this dvd as well as the 2nd and final season of this tv program. We were devasted that our favorite program got cancelled after only 2 seasons. It's a shame it didn't catch on or that the network felt they had to cancel the series. At least we can enjoy it all over again on dvd without commercial interuptiions.

I love this tv series. I couldn't wait to watch all the episodes. It is very cleverly written and something my whole family could watch. There is no explicit sex scenes or vulgarity. It is about true love.

The DVDs are in great condition, playing very well. The case, however, was broken. The hinges on the inside were broken off and the swinging page that holds the first two discs float freely in the case when closed. The third discs holder is broken leaving the disc to come out and move around inside as well...I am not one to complain but hey its whatever. I love the show and can still watch it whenever I want now.

This is a GREAT show that did not last all that long. It is a series that is a little unreal, but that is what makes it so good. It is very imanintive and funny. If you have not seen the show, the first season is a good one to start with!! Enjoy!!

I originally bought this series as a present for my parents so when I sat down to watch it with them I wasn't expecting much. The storyline didn't seem all that unique and the characters sounded boring if not overdone. However, when the first episode began I realized there was something different about this show.
The vibrancy of the colors, the sarcasm of the narration, and the intelligence of the script caught my attention right away. It's as if you've stepped into a storybook version of the real world and I have to say I wouldn't have minded staying several episodes longer.

Includes every episode from season one. The humor in this series is unlike any other TV show I've ever seen. One of my favorite!

This series is directed by one of the motion picture's industries best directors and cinematographers, (Barry Sonnefield, who directed "Men in Black"). So, right off the bat you'll notice this series looks more like a motion picture, rather than a television show. Bryan Fuller created and writes the show and is fantastic! They brought in great actors to star in this series, and great guest stars as well. So, naturally the acting is spot on. You will love this series! And, the more you see it, the better it gets, which is why I HAD to get the DVD. LOVE LOVE LOVE "Pushing Daisies"!!!

This is the "quirky thinking person's show" for the year that it was on. Followed "The Gilmore Girls" in that respect. Which followed "Push Nevada," "American Gothic," "Picket Fences," "Northern Exposure," "St. Elsewhere," "Twin Peaks," and so on.

Bryan Fuller said it's Edward Scissorhands meets Amelie.

But he forgot Dr. Seuss.

This is a great comedy about life and death. It's great and the whole family can enjoy it. This guy has the power to bring people back from the death with a touch, so he goes and revives these dead people, finds out who killed them, and collects the reward. But then he finds his high school sweetheart has been killed and he brings her back to life and keeps her that way but he can't touch her or she will go back to being dead. I bought it for my sister for Christmas because it's her new favorite television show.

This was a great purchase. The show itself is amazing. The DVD's were brand new and therefore in perfect condition. Also it came quickly. I was very satisfied with the buy.
