Punisher: War Zone (DVD, 2009, Full Screen; Widescreen)

Second in the "Punisher" series, and this one is BETTER than the orginal!!
Frank Castle (Ray Stevenson) a one man force of vengeance known as the Punisher, battles mob boss Billy Russoti (Dominic West). But when the
encounter leaves Russoti disfigured, he reemerges as Jigsaw, a psychotic
villian with a small army at his command. Its bad news for Jigsaw that
the Punisher is preparing to annihilate him and his crazy brother plus his
army of followers-and is armed with a cache of high-tech weaponry to do
the act with, all made and supplied by his trusty aid, Microchip (Wayne
Knight). This is a 5 star movie from the Crime Action and Superhero action
thriller mode and if you like those types of movies--you will love this one.
Much, much better than the orginal movie with lots of action and some funny
parts thrown in on occasion.

Even as a fan of the other Punisher movies, this one was way over the top on the gore and the blood. You will see it within seconds as people aren't just shot, the backs of their heads are blown off. They aren't just hit with chairs, the leg of the chair goes right through their eye.

There are some cool moves throughout it and obviously Punisher is pretty B.A. but it seems like they are trying too hard on the over the top gore. If the first part doesn't turn you off...then you're going to love it! ;)

The sequal to Marvel's violent hit "The Punisher," isn't really a sequal as much as it is just another
version of the movie. Marvel did the same with their movies "Hulk" and "The Incredible Hulk." This
version of The Punisher's story is extremely violent, so violent in fact that the film went straight to
DVD instead of theatres. Thomas Jane who portrayed Frank Castle (aka The Punisher) is not in
this film. Jane was unable to do this film due to a schedule conflict. Fans of the movie with Jane
will be apprehensive at first, because Ray Stevenson looks, sounds and acts nothing like Jane.
This was the main reason I put off watching the film as long as I did. However, I rented the DVD
from Redbox with a free rental code, with the mind set of "it's a free rental, what am I losing?".
Well I went out and bought the DVD shortly after. The story covered in this film is in many ways
a contradiction to the film with Thomas Jane. For one, the way his family died is different, another
difference Castle's state of mind and background. This movie is basically the comic book come
to life, where as the other was more of a Hollywood interpretation of the character and story.
It's also pretty different from the really old Punisher movie with Dolph Lungren as The Punisher.

As I said earlier this film is extremely violent. There's a very large body count in this film. The
body count rivals a "Friday the 13th" movie with some moments that will remind you of the "SAW"
films, or even "Hostel." Very violent, but with good morals behind it. Great acting, some nice
unexpected moments, drama, suspense and even some comedy with a wonderful soundtrack
that sets the mood for every scene (much like the video game for PS2) and even a short scene
featuring Slipknot's "Psychosicial" to get you hyped for the final showdown of the movie. All in
all I recommend this movie to anyone who enjoys a movie that isn't held back by the MPAA,
any fan of the Punisher and anyone who likes to see a comic book character that doesn't wear
his underwear on the outside of his tights. "Punisher: Warzone" is a no holds barred kill fest!!!

This movie is filled with violence, revenge, murder, blood, and crime; if you do not like those types of things, I would not advise you to add it to your collection. It does have a very grotesque moment (elderly woman with half her head missing) or two, which can easily be seen as over-the-top. I have seen the 2004 Punisher movie twice and I think it is better than War Zone. War Zone has more blood, pain, and violence than the 2004 movie. That does not neccessarily make it better or worse, but maybe potential buyers could find that useful. It is rated R for good reason; plenty of blood, guts, and language. I am 19 and usually love action movies with violence, but I could have done without at least a few of the scenes in War Zone. 6.5/10

Ray Stevenson is perfect as Frank Castle, and everyone else is at least good enough for an action movie.

it came quicker than i thought. Also it was dirt cheap 2 thumbs up ty.And it works great.Id recommend anybody buying a iteam from this guy it came way quicker than i expected and it was in the orginial case it came in disc looks great. all people reading this review buy from this person and im sure ull get what you want.

I have been a Punisher fan for many many years now and out of the 3 movies made (1989 Dolph Lundgren, 2004 Thomas Jane) this is the one to watch if you are a loyal fan of the comic character. Yes it had a lower budget but it shows that a high budget was not needed to make a good Punisher movie. The only setback is a bit of jokey acting from a few of the characters especially Jigsaw who comes off like Two Face from Batman Forever. Apart from that the film is excellent, Ray Stevenson plays the best on screen Punisher I have seen and I would love to see him come back to the role. If you want a real Punisher Movie choose this, a turn your brain off action movie again choose this, if you are looking for a deep story and want to watch Punisher well, it may not be deep but the 2004 movie has a more in depth story than this one.

the movie was in good condition but the movie was not what i though it was it was a poor action movie

This is a good "kill'em all" movie. Although it does not follow the first movie, it's still a good film, with a good plot. It follows the same "story of principle" that the first character had, and is much more graphic (if you like that sort of thing)!

Best "guy movie" ever, period. Gore, violence, guns, and revenge. Exceeds the first 2 punisher movies (Dolph Lundgren and Thomas Jane) by far.

Perfect film for the fans, not the critics. The first wasn't quite great enough for us to complain about the dropped lead actor but this one really got down to business with the way The Punisher should be presented. Highly recommended to a comic book or action movie fan.

Good movie if you like guns and heads getting blown off. It is no where near as good as the first punisher movie. The movie plot was very thin. Too unbelivable. But the action and gun play made it watchable.

This dvd is awsome!! The movie is filled with non stop action and is much better than the 1st punisher release that came out a few years before!!!

i have the first punisher movie and i liked it i saw this punisher movie at the show and i also like so when it came out on dvd i had to get it in this movie shows more of who the punisher is like the comic book iam glad i got it.

this film is not for the kids its and adult action thriller. it is very goodas it keeps you watching with all the action, predictable plot and story line if you are a punisher fan.

WARNING!!! If you do not like blood, guts, decapitations, mob violence, vulgar scenes of killing and death then this movie is not for you.

I started this movie not knowing it was a marvel comic story. I had no idea that there were two other punisher films. ( I found this out later) But you do not need to know the background of the punisher series to enjoy this movie.

The opening scene got my attention right away. It was awesome! Frank Castle is the main character in this film; he is “The Punisher”. Earlier in his life his family witnessed a mob massacre, so the mob killed Frank’s entire family. The biggest mistake was leaving him alive. Now he punishes the corrupt killing everyone with no mercy. Then he comes to find his most deadly foes yet, Billy Russoti aka “Jigsaw” and his brother James Russoti aka “Looney Bin Jim”. The brothers also recruit every corrupt person in the city to hunt and kill the Punisher.

This movie was great I loved it. It was non stop action with a dark side. Ray Stevensons (Punisher) did an excellent job portraying this character. He was smooth, ambitious and was an all around dark character. Throughout the film he showed little to no emotion and no remorse for what he does. He is not just punishing the corrupt but killing them violently. He did such a great job.

Dominic West (Jigsaw) did a good job as well. Although, he did not sell me on the fact that he was a mob boss. He was edgy and freaky looking.

Doug Hutchison (Looney Bin Jim) was my favorite character of the evil. He did an excellent job at portraying a crazy person. He would simply go crazy if he wasn’t killing someone. He was always ready to go and very impatient when it came to the task taking ones life.

Anyway I liked this movie it was entertaining. Not much for a story line but it’s great to see a movie with a bunch of hardcore characters. The action is non stop so is the violence!

Also if your are into heavy metal/grunge music the soundtrack is awesome

My husband loves the Punisher. The Punisher is his favorite Marvel character. I decided to buy this for him for Easter.

I loved this movie. If you like horror movies , action or anything kick ass then your going to love this. The punisher is not a pussie in this one like Thomas Jane was in the 2004 punisher. Ray stevenson is the true punisher. He destroys people left and right but until he accidently kills an undercover cop and his emotions start to kick in when he findsout the man had a daughter just like his own and his mission is to protect her and her mother from the evil jigsaw and wild bill. A++++++ P.S NOT FOR KIDS UNDER 13 or maybe even they might not be able to see it in parts.

The ultimate movie for all fans of the Punisher series and comics. It has one of the best action and gore scenes i've seen to date with another unique take on the character of Frank Castle.
