Industry Reviews Gr 4 Up Pumpkin decorating is a subject in great demand in the fall, and Rhodes's book will be enthusiastically received. The author has loaded the pages with useful information, suggestions, and, perhaps most welcome of all, a large section of full-color photographs followed by clear directions for decorating more than 80 pumpkins. The book begins with valuable background information and general instructions. Even experienced carvers will pick up a tip or two in the "Pumpkin Carving" section, which discusses tools, transferring patterns from the book to the pumpkin, drilling holes, and candle lighting. The section on painting includes base-coating and sealing, transferring patterns, selecting proper brushes and paints, and painting techniques. The part on embellishment offers suggestions to add interest to painted, carved, or plain pumpkins. The ideas are creative and range in difficulty from simple to complex. A seasonal craft book that's sure to be popular. Lee Bock, Glenbrook Elementary School, Pulaski, WI Lopate
