  Gain Amazing Self Worth
Review created: 08/10/09
by:

Let me start with a few quotes directly from this book.

"The word 'Esteem' literally means to appreciate the worth of. Why do men stand in awe of the stars, and the moon, the immensity of the sea, the beauty of a flower or a sunset, and at the same time downgrade themselves? Did not the same Creator make man? Is not man himself the most marvelous creation of all? This appreciation of you own worth is not egotism unless you assume that you made yourselfand should take some of the credit. Do not downgrade the product merely because you haven't used it correctly."

"But the biggest secret of self esteem is this: Begin to appreciate other people more; show respect for any human being merely because he is child of God and therefore a 'thing of value."
"Practice treating other people as if they have some value-and surprisingly enough your own self-esteem will go up."

"For real self-esteem is not derived from the great things you've done, the things you own, the mark you've made- but an appreciation of yourself for what you are-a child of God."

I originally found this book at an Estate Sale the 1960 print. I collect old books that share wisdom and insight into human nature. I collect, read and keep on hand what I feel may help someone in the future as well as myself.
If I can't be of some use to someone then of what use am I? That's my motto.

The above quote from the book may be enough for some people.
That may be all it would take for someone to start seeing people differently.

For the non-believers they need to know that this book is not all about God it's about the fact that the mind is very complex and sometimes must be self manipulated.

This book will teach you some techniques to help you change your mind. Help instill a positive belief system. How to use your imagination, be creative etc.

I bought this second book to give to someone else because I'm no hypnotist. So far it's fulfilling it's purpose.
Priceless!

Psycho-Cybernetics
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Psycho-Cybernetics is a classic self-help book, written by Maxwell Maltz in 1960 and published by the non-profit Psycho-Cybernetics Foundation.[1] Motivational and self-help experts in personal development, including Zig Ziglar, Tony Robbins, Brian Tracy have based their techniques on Maxwell Maltz. Many of the psychological methods of training elite athletes are based on the concepts in Psycho-Cybernetics as well.[2] The book combines the cognitive behavioral technique of teaching an individual how to regulate self-concept developed by Prescott Lecky with the cybernetics of Norbert Wiener and John von Neumann. The book defines the mind-body connection as the core in succeeding in attaining personal goals.[3]

Maltz found that his plastic surgery patients often had expectations that were not satisfied by the surgery, so he pursued a means of helping them set the goal of a positive outcome through visualization of that positive outcome.[3] Maltz became interested in why setting goals works. He learned that the power of self-affirmation and mental visualisation techniques used the connection between the mind and the body. He specified techniques to develop a positive inner goal as a means of developing a positive outer goal. This concentration on inner attitudes is essential to his approach, as a person's outer success can never rise above the one visualized internally.[1]

It's What You Believe You Can Do
Review created: 03/23/08

Save yourself a ton of money going to self-help seminars and get a copy of Dr. Maltz' book. His theories are the foundation of all those self-help gurus. He provides easy, fun exercises that will change the way you view yourself and your life. It's funny: my aunt Margie gave me this book as a young teen. If I had bothered reading it back then, my life would have been much more rewarding and productive.

If you have profound personal issues, this is not a replacement for professional guidance. However, consider using it as a supplement.

The sharpest most complete journal of knowledge and self wisdom sold in book stores today. The most complete self awareness book on the market with the price less than a six pack of beer.

My recommendations
