Protector - The Story of Brennan the Belter turned PAK

Phssthpok the Pak had traveled over 30 thousand years only to run into David Brennan, a belter who happened to be in the wrong place at the right time. After the two meet, Brennan is turned into a PAK Protector after eating Tree of Life.
Thus the story of how Humans and PAK are connected and where it goes from there is how Brennan, the Human Protector, sets out to save humanity.
As with all of Niven's work this one stands out on its own and is a great read.
It also goes into a lot of details that were only hinted at in some of his other works (Like RIngworld).
If you are a fan of Larry Niven the this is a must read.
