A different style of Massive Attack
Review created: 08/03/06(updated 08/03/06)
Mezzanine and Blue Lines are superior as whole albums, but Protection offers a satisfying flavor nonetheless. The album is essentially hit and miss. It has great tracks such as the title track, Karmacoma, Sly, and Better Things. These tracks are the jewels of the albums. The othes are interesting in their own way, but are not up to the level Massive Attack is capable of. They end up becoming fluff in between the tracks that stand out. If you are a fan of Massive Attack this album is essential because of its unique style, but if you are looking to get into Massive Attack start with Blue Lines and move to Mezzanine.
