A jarring revisionist's western

Put the popcorn down and the kids to bed. Be prepared to be transported back to the wild west of the 1800's, outback style. Through the dusty Austalian landscape and the buzzing of flies, this is one of the most jarring and haunting films I've seen in some time. You can watch all the Hollywood fluffy blockbuster films you want, and will probably soon be forgotten. But a film like The Proposition will get under your skin and into your psyche. It is a cross blend of Eastwood's "The Unforgiven" and Peckinpah's "The Wild Bunch". This is a riveting piece of work.
