Prolog Programming for Artificial Intelligence by Ivan Bratko (2000, Paperback, Subsequent Edition)

Hi,
I studied Computer science (Open University of Israel) and in my AI (Artificial Intelligence) course we used this book.
This is a great book it is very good for understanding the fundamentals of AI programing with Prolog.

It goes from very basic examples to more advanced AI subjects in 23 Chapters.

My opinion
------------
This book is not a programing Prolog guide, It deals with AI programming problems and solves them with Prolog. This book is about problems/questions/tasks and their solutions using Prolog language.
But if you use it right you can learn to use Prolog from beginners level to high level programing.

About Prolog
--------------
Prolog has no ANSI (Unlike c or other programming languages), So what you read in the book might work with compiler A and not with compiler B.
Usually it very Easy to get the right syntax with your compilers help or with Internet guides.


Prolog compilers
-----------------
2 most famous are "LPA-prolog" and "SWI-PROLOG" and there are many more out there.
Be aware that a lot of programs written in Prolog are slower than same programs written in other languages.

My use
------
I used this book from 0 knowledge till I wrote an AI checkers game computer Vs human (for Computers "brain" I used prolog, and for Gui I used JAVA).
I am now using this knowledge to write an adaptive learning computer that playes checkers even better.
