Professor Layton and the Curious Village (Nintendo DS, 2008)

I have to say that this is one of the best games to come out for the Nintendo DS Lite system. It's rich and charasmatic graphics and story line engage you from the moment you begin game play. With over 120+ brain puzzles and extra puzzles that can be unlocked you will spend hours trying to figure out all the mysterious happenings in the village of St. Mystere. I loved this game so much that I now have my parents, my brother, and my kids playing it and it's been a great bonding time with them while we all try to figure out the various puzzles.
I gave this game a 5 out of 5 stars and highly recommend it to anyone who likes a good mystery.

All kinds of intresting puzzles and riddles to solve the mystery. I love this game. It is too hard for my 8 year old, but thats ok, I really got it for me anyway. He, he, he.

I am very new to videogames -- in the wrong age group. I'm a Boomer not a GenXer or younger.

I really enjoyed the game. It could be played entirely with the stylus instead of having arthritic hands try to use all those buttons.

The puzzles were NOT EASY. Some required higher math and all required logic. I don't believe children would be able to solve the puzzles. But I highly recommend it for Middle School students and older.

All in all, it was a terrific entry into the world of videogames.

This game is wonderful. Nice graphics, fun story, tons of quality puzzzles. Exploring the town is fun, the story is edgy and deep enough to keep you interested, music and sound effects are the perfect score and never annoying, the puzzles are top notch, and there is enough added fun to give your brain a rest. The gameplay length is long. Highly recommended.

Just what I was looking for, and arrived brand new and in perfect condition...not a copy! Ebay is by far the most easy, quick and convenient way of shopping, I prefer it to actual shopping...ugh! Also you tend to really grab the bargains without too much effort the ebay way.

I bought this game to play during a long airplane flight and it ate up the hours! I had to ask my friend for help quite a few times to solve some of the puzzles. Professor Layton and his sidekick, Luke, venture into a mysterious town and encounter a variety of characters who offer them many types of puzzles to solve. Little gold hint coins are hidden throughout the village so you tap around the entire screen for coins and hidden puzzles. If you can't solve a puzzle it goes into a Puzzle House where you can go back and try to solve them again. I enjoyed the variety of puzzles and the animation. I am going to solve all the puzzles if I can!

If you are a logical thinker, like me, than be ready for a surprise! I got this game with the hope that I might find SOME value and came out with a favorite! I would suggest this to anyone who loves puzzles and even those who don't!

I am 35 years old and I enjoyed doing all the puzzles in this game. I had to think hard to get to the end, but I made it. My kids 7 and 12 find it way harder but the game saves your spot so you can turn it off and try again later. We love it, worth evey penny.

This games rocks! I absolutely love everything about this game. It's full of brainteasers, puzzles and riddles. It really makes you think. I don't recommend this for young players because it would be too difficult. Teenagers and adults that like a good challenge will definately like this game.

The game certainly makes you use the old grey matter, as some of the puzzles are challenging, but at times you kick yourself because you read to deep into the solution. At times frustrating but that's a personal thing. Saw it advertised and the reviews were good. Would recommend.

I bought this game because of what I heard I enjoy puzzles so if your looking for fast action this is not your game. I am older 63 but I enjoy playing games that require use of the brain as they say if you don't use it you will lose it. my only complaint is that it could be a little faster otherwise I love it.

Id like to think that I'm good at puzzles and riddles, but this was way way too difficult for me. I couldn't even get through 10 puzzles/riddles. They are way to hard. NOT recommended for a child of any age. I am 21, and unless your smart and VERY much a wizz at puzzles, I don't recommend it for adults either.

I don't recommend at all really, way too hard for me and I am sure ANY child. Only purchase if your a MAJOR wizz. I thought I was good at them..and I was still wrong. Good luck if you purchase!

The first thing you see when you've logged onto the game is a little cartoon movie, reminiscent of the hand drawn cartoons of a decade ago. The voicing is very pleasant and the music is good accompaniment. The puzzles range from easy but entertaining to very challenging and mind boggling.
The amazing thing about this game is the story line, it's extremely entertaining and fun to play. All the different puzzles will keep your brain working while you will smile at the witty dialogue and the smart scenes.
You'll be sure to have a lot of fun with these mind games

This game, for the people that like puzzle games, is hilarious and incredibly entertaining. Love all about it; the settings, the kind of puzzles and the challenge it brings. will rate a 10.

I love this game. It kept my mind thinking. They were some very hard puzzles. It was very fun. I would highly recommend it to some one who likes challenging puzzles.

Great game. good for kids who are old enough to read and for adults too who like games that they have to solve mysteries to get to the next level

This is a slow game and you do have to be able to read fairly well (at least a fifth grader), however, my 9 year old loves it. She not only has to play the game and make decisions, but she has to be able to read and understand what she is reading to proceed.

I had borrowed this game from a friend to see how it was. I loved it, so I had to have my own. All of the puzzles are fun and challenging, but not so difficult that they can't be done by mostly everyone with some patience. The second time I played this, I found some new puzzles that I had missed on the first one, plus all of the extra puzzles that open up when you get past certain levels. I can't wait for the next game in the series.

A Cross between SIMS and BRAINAGE! a great array of both logical and analytical puzzles with enough missions to keep your interest. Not just the typical, repeative, game play associated with handheld systems.. I wanted something that would take me more than a week to beat. This one fits the bill!

I first received an email from Nintendo containing a "letter" from Professor Layton. I wasn't so sure about a puzzle game from the beginning, chalking it up to another spin on tetris, or some other repetitive puzzle game that is equally boring, but upon receiving a second email and seeing examples of the puzzles, the graphics, and learning that you can download additional games (a new one each week) via your WIFI connection, I just HAD to buy it NOW!!! :)
I have several DS games, but I found that I was consistently expecting better graphics and gameplay than I was receiving. The layout of this game is easy to follow and sincerely draws you in. It makes you feel like you are actually part of solving the mystery, and is VERY HARD TO PUT DOWN! There are intermittent video clips that tell certain parts of the story, and they are noteworthily (I think I just made up that word) good! :) Some of the puzzles are very easy, while others tend to be trick questions that make you overthink your answer! :o Good thing is, though, that there are "Hint Coins" that you can find throughout the game to help you on your way! My favorite game previous to this was "Rune Factory: A Fantasy Harvest Moon" and I thought it was the best DS game out there (for me, anyway) until I found this. I would say, compared to other games out there, it rates as a 9.5! I would rate it a perfect ten, but it is so addicting, I wish it was longer. The online downloads will make up for some of that, but I hope they hurry up and make another game about Professor Layton, and his assistant Luke, who consistently "saves the day"!!! :) ENJOY! :)

This game is super fun. The puzzles are challenging and really test your ability to think them through. Like the game says, every puzzle has an answer. Cute characters and storyline. I would highly recommend this game to anyone who likes brain challenges.

I couldn't wait to get this game, now I don't know what to do next. The game was addicting, but way to short and none of the puzzles were that challenging. OK maybe a few were but it took me less than a week to finish. Buy a used copy if you are going to buy this and save yourself a few bucks.

Great puzzles! Cute storyline and graphics. Downloadable weekly puzzles are a plus. If you are a fan of brain teasers and mysteries, you will love this game!
