They rarely show this movie anymore, but it is one of Jack Lemmon's best. Done in 1975 with Anne Bancroft, it is a mixture of drama and comedy about an executive who is suddenly unemployed and the trauma causes him to have a nervous breakdown. His wife tires her best to be understanding, but it seems when it rains it pours. He is mugged, his house is broken into and a number of other little things that all add up to one big revelation at the end! Sylvester Stallone makes an appearance as the pick-pocket. I think we have all felt like we have been there one time or another. A super movie.

If you're a Jack Lemmon fan, this is a MUST HAVE DVD. He's funny, witty, smart, loving, sad and just amazing throughout the entire movie. I'm so glad I found it on ebay. An acquaintance and I were talking about the movie, and after laughing so hard at his description of the movie, I just had to have it. I absolutely love it!

This is the best movie I have ever seen Jack Lemmon and Anne Bancroft is amazing as he slowly cant deal with the everyday details of life and brings you on a ride of insanity and nervous breakdown it is great and I am only 28 and love it more then any other comedy!!!

Prisoner Of Second AvenueIf you want to see a GREAT movie. Prisoner Of Second Avenue says it all.
Ann Bancroft as Edna and Jack Lemmon as Mel are two GREAT actors. This is a story about 2 people living in New York going through a crisis as Mel is about to have a break down because of losing his job and his neighbor upstairs driving him crazy.You should be feeling sorry for poor Mel. But the actions of Mel and Edna will make you LAUGH.
The script is GREAT! It is a MUST SEE!!!
