Don't Worry, Everyone is Confused...

One word. Unbelievable. Excellent. Outstanding. Okay that's three words.
This is what one guy (one very talented and bright guy), with a few friends and 7 grand can do. Something that big budget Hollywood can't. Create a good thought provoking thriller. No wonder this movie won the Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival in 2004.
The story seems easy to understand, two engineers, Abe and Aaron, are working on theories and concepts in Aaron's garage. All the while creating, they are trying to get published and recognized. They try to create one invention for one thing, believe it becomes another, and actually becomes a way of time travel. In between all of the engineer jargon you can see the possiblities beging to gell around the story.
Trying to understand this movie after watching it once will leave you with a misunderstanding or at least having missed some very important things. Two times great, three times seems to be a charm. It's a story about endless possiblities and having the hindsight in life to do whatever you want. Will your altruistic and idealistic nature last? Will your relationships and that which you charish remain the same? Once you open Pandora's Box, what will you do with it, and are you very sure about your answer?
Primer is confusing to you the viewer because Primer is confusing to the characters and the author/director/actor pulls it off in a way that helps you to dig through the confusion to make sense of it. It does take a bit, but is well worth it.
