This book was recommended to me by another parent who had an ADD child. It was helpful to understand what my child is thinking, feeling and frustrations. It is a collection and analysis by the author of interviews of ADD individuals regarding their life experiences and coping skills. As a parent, this book will be a great resource during my the life of my child.

As an adoptee in my mid-forties and just discovering the potential baggage of being adopted this is an incredibly insightful, striaghforward easy to read book. I highly recommend this to anyone in the adoption triad ( adoptee, birth parents, adoptive parents). Fascinating and highly useful aide to comprhension of various issues. Excellent writer. Be sure to check out her other books.

This book is a "must read" for anybody that's on the receiving or giving end of the adoption process. Although I didn't experience any abandonment issues, it definitely shed some light on alot of other topics.

This was th most thought provoking book I have read to date on adopted children and their experiences both before and after birth. I have read dozens of books on attachment disorder since my son has severe attachment disorder. I will never think the same about an adopted child ever again. The book offer incredible insight and backed up its information with results of studies. I can't r3commend this book enough if you have a child with attachment issues, is adopted, or has attachment disorder.I belong to a very active Yahoo support group for children with attachment disorder, (ATN), Attachment and Trauma Support group).

I was told I should read this book because I am an adopted child. I haven't gotten too far in it yet so I don't know whether it will be helpful or not

Purchased the book on the suggestion of my therapist. Although I never did and don't feel a wound, the feelings and symptoms described throughout were right on target with many of the things I struggle with. Offers insight to adoptees as well as adoptive parents to some of the behavioral manefestations common to adoptees in early and later stages of life.
