Pride and Prejudice (2006, DVD)

I loved the book and loved the movie just as much! Pride and Prejudice is a classic and I feel the integrity was kept in its reproduction. The set and costume design are amazing and appropriate for the time period, not to mention beautiful. Keira Knightly plays a stunning Lizzie, acts gracefully and true to the character. The movie stirs up hope and desire, just as the book does page by page. The end of the movie leaves you wishing for more of the old-fashioned scenery and situations... wishing for love. This is the perfect movie for the ladies... cuddle up in a warm blanket and watch this on a rainy day!

I purchased this DVD, after I downloaded the movie for my niece. I saw it and enjoyed it. So decided to get the DVD on ebay. As I knew I would get a great deal. In fact I baught 2 copies. I had not read the book, but new it was a classic. And the movie was great in all aspects of cinema. It has made me go ut and get the book to read and see what was left out. As we all know movies are never exactly as the original story.

I recomment this movie for all.

My daughter introduced me to the films based on the timeless classics of Jane Austen. This version is beautifully done. The story is a beautiful love story and will make you laugh and cry. My daughter is in college this year, thus taking the copy of this movie with her to the dorm. I absolutely had to have my own and here I am reviewing it. It is a film I intend to watch over and over again. I highly recommend this movie to all hopeless romantics, and to those who need to renew their faith and belief in true love!!

This is a great movie and I love to watch it over and over. I love the costumes and manner of speaking of this era. The movie prompted me to buy the book and another novel of Jane Austen.

This is my all time favorite movie! I fell in love with this movie the first time I watched it. It's very fast paced, and took me a few times to figure out what was going on in some parts. All characters bring a certain element into the movie that would be lacking without even one of them.

The story begins with a mother and father discussing new arrivals that contain two very eligible and rich bachelors in a country setting in England. This couple have five, I think, girls and no boys. Living in the country with no title or money makes it difficult to marry these girls off.

The richest of the bachelors is a very powerful Lord Darcy who is anti-social and incredibly shy. Elizabeth is the second oldest girl who dislikes his attitude, while he tries to come to terms with his fascination with her. After committing a serious error in judgment, Darcy is at a loss on how to deal with Elizabeth's anger and rejection.

The ending is not what I expected and greatly satisfying.

If you like classical movies, like Jane Ere, Silas Marner, and Dead Poets Society (ok, not a classic), you will love this movie.

Oh, if you have seen American Haunting, you will have trouble viewing Donald Sutherland in the appropriate light in this movie. Good luck.

If you like Jane Austin movies THIS is the best of the best. I have another version of it but these actors/the setting/country and fine acting has put the other one to shame. I love it and it is the most well made film I've ever seen. I watch this movie over and over again. Keeps your attention. GREAT!!! The producers and people who were responsible for it should be applauded.

A movie that I had seen several months ago and decided to order it. I like the movies about the English gentry. The language is appropriate and not littered with four letter words.

I actually have seen this movie a few times and i finally purchased it to add to my collection. Never before have i seen a love story with such conviction and deep emotions. The story itself of course is one of the best love stories ever written and this remake is "hands down" the best out of all of them. It definitly possesses a person to want to relive the greatest love ever experienced from the start.

I like that we received a movie impossible to find in our local area, for a ridiculously low price and it got here pretty darn quick.

2) Purchased From: redtagmarket Transaction ID:04U3545075404320L. This DVD has not yet been received by Dr. Maria Aneeta Georgievsky, 5866 West Fountain Circle, Mason, OH 45040,United States; paid to the Seller on 04/08/2008.

Both of my $14.96 USD Pay Pal payments by bank transfer to email@redtagmarket.com have been processed and automatically credited to the Pay Pal account of the payment's recipient. Thus, both of these transactions are completed.

As of today, a month and a half later and after sending many e-mail messages to the Seller via my e-Bay account I, Dr. Maria Aneeta Georgievsky, have not received the second DVD of Pride and Prejudice. I am not sure what to do. Regtagmarket took my money for the second DVD and never send the second item.

This is my first negative experience with e-Bay purchases. I have looked at the Seller’s ratings and noticed that they have been getting a lot of negative feedback, especially within last 12 months. I believe that the Seller’s way of handling their business and customers is tarnishing the good name of e-Bay.

I like this movie very much. The love story is timeless. I could not find it in any local stores, and the price was very fair.

Probably my favorite romance movie of all time.Even though this movie version is not completely like the book, it keeps the same feeling.I think Jane Austen would have approved of this movie version. This movie is clean with no cursing,nudity,or sexual situations.

The movie is well done and very well acted, particularly by Donald Sutherland. It also captures well, I think, the flavor of early 19th century country life in England. However it doesn't really hold a candle to the 6 part PBS treatment of the same novel.

This is a top-notch, excellent and completely re-watchable movie. It has gone to the top of my "Top-Ten" list! With all that said, I do have to admit seeing "Becoming Jane" enhanced viewing this movie, realizing how autobiographical it was. I have seen several versions, but there has never been the passion between the two leads as in this one. When Lizzie blisters Mr. Darcy after his first proposal, they are both in such pain, and still you can see them gravitating towards one another despite what their "prejudices" are telling them. Spectacular scenery, spectacular casting makes this a must see - even if you think this era was stuffy and boring! Donald Sutherland is the best Mr. Bennett ever also!

Of all the versions of Pride and Prejudice there are, I love this one best. Mathew Macfadyen portrays Mr. Darcy as prideful and a tad arrogant--in keeping with Jane Austen's book-- but he also injects the qualities of shyness and vulnerability into the character that I find endearing. After all, how could Lizzie fall in love with him if he were a total ass? Donald Sutherland's portrayal of Mr. Bennett is wonderful. He is a bit scruffy but a truly loving father with a sense of humor. All of the characters I thought were well cast...right down to the giggling nonsensical younger sisters. The backdrop and scenery are enchanting as is the soundtrack.

romantic and sexy. my new favorite movie. Mr. Darcy's awkwardness is endearing and the way he looks at her is every woman's dream.

I love Jane Austen's books, and especially love the Director's interpretation. Much of the dialog is consistent with the book and I appreciate where the screen writer took creative and dramatic license. Kiera Knightly and Matthew Macfadyen were exceptional in the role.

It is a beautiful version of the Jane Austin classic. The chemistry between Kiera Knightly as Lizzie and Mr. Darcy is so engaging. The ending is joyful and satisfying! For me it is my favorite version.

This movie is the best I loved it...If you like chick flicks and love romance movies this is it. I saw this movie for the first time and fell in love with it.

This movie was a disappointment if you have ever seen other versions. Even the earlier B & W with Greer Garson and Laurence Oliver was better. The really best one and my personal favorite is the A & E version with Jennifer Ehle and Colin Firth. It was just so much more believable with the beautiful costumes and scenery. Colin and Jennifer were so well matched in this version but all of the cast was superb. This later version with Knightley is a really pitiful rendition. They all look like poor farmers rather than people of upper society. If you want to compare all you should see this one but for sure don't pay much for it. It is still in the stores at a ridiculously high price. I am so thankful I bought it used from ebay for the loss of the extra money would have upset me greatly. I love Jane Austen and have read most of her books and have seen several of the movies so far. If you really want a great Pride & Prejudice look for the A & E mini series 10th Anniversary edition with Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle. You won't be sorry with that one.
