I worked at a comic book store for about 6 years, and of all the books i've gotten to read this is one of my favorites. definitely within my top 5 of all time.
the fact that it's based on true events somehow makes it more potent and even haunting; it'll stay with you for quite a while after reading it. (note how ebay's description says its "whimsical" parts include a turtle mourning its family? that should tell you something about the overall feel of this book)
the message will be appreciated by pretty much anyone, whether you're for or against the war on iraq, or war in general. its rated mature, though there's not toooooooo much in it that's that bad. nothing you wouldn't see in a animal or war documentary on the discovery channel.
also, if you decide you like this, i would recommend trying we3, maus, and y the last man.
