Album Notes
After a dalliance with applying economical song structures to their trademark organ pulsations on recent efforts--THE WEDDING and HAPPY NEW YEAR--PRETEEN WEAPONRY marks a return to roots for Brooklyn's Oneida: roots that lie somewhere between certain defined genres--Noise, Kraut, Dub, Psych, Drone, Stoner Metal, and Folk all pop up here--and some other zone entirely. The first of a trilogy entitled THANK YOUR PARENTS, the album contains three epic tracks that--although demarcated with breaks--run continuously into each other. Less a set of songs than a series of movements beautifully framed by Barry London's fluid mix, it has a shifting, organic quality that will keep even the most attention-challenged listener engaged.
"Part 1" finds frenetic Kid Millions' avant-jazz drum fills giving way to a growling Hawkwind-like riff that evolves into a meditative folk guitar and wurlitzer tandem before a gaping tape distortion swallows everything whole. "Part 2" features eruptions of dub-noise and a hypnotic bass groove that foreground the album's lone vocal. "Part 3" has an uplifting Kraut drive that eventually dissipates into oscillating Moog leads and the kind of blurping organ lines that Fat Bobby has long made his calling card. Nine albums and over 10 years in, Oneida remain peerless in turning deeply psychedelic experimentalism into accessible, killer rock & roll.

Editorial Reviews
3.5 stars out of 5 -- While 'Part 2' is the album's most intense track, 'Part 3' is its most intriguing -- imagine the sound of an alien invasion in the middle of a Keith Moon drum solo.
Alternative Press

[T]he music itself is austere, imposing and serious enough to encourage high expectations for the second installment of the THANK YOUR PARENTS trilogy...
