A Practical Guide to the Runes by Lisa Peschel (1989, Paperback)

This was recommended to me by a dear friend as being one of the best books for interpreting Runes. After attempting it on my own with different books, I called her back and took her recommendation. This book is really very good!

DISLIKE:

I think the Author could make some $$$ if they chose to create a hard cover-tabbed version of this book. The biggest difficutly is flipping the pages to find the Rune you're looking for. If they created tabs, each showing the corresponding Rune in a hard-cover format - this would likely become the favored Rune guide world-wide.

This a great book for a someone who looking to learn about Runes.. it cover the basic.I found it to be a big help..

It's a good thumb-through guide on how to use runes, though much of the author's own beliefs are put down as gospel to runework - though she does warn the reader that the reader needs to develop his or her own rules for interpretation. Though the book doesn't seem to use all true Elder Futhark Runes (a couple are slightly different than true Elder), it's a good overall look at runecasting and how one person does/interprets it for a base reference for anyone starting out.

This is a little book packed with info. It is fast easy reading. Very useful. Only book I've read buy this author but based on my experience with this one I will look for more of her books.
