Powwow Highway (DVD, 2004)

I luv this movie! It is heartfelt and funny!!!My sister and I watched it yrs ago and I had to buy it! I was glad I found it!

This was a wonderful movie, showing one character that wanted to be who he thought he should be. This was not the main story line, but Philbert was so dedicated to becoming his true identity, that he did all the things he thought he should do as a warrior without thought of effects on current society. I honesty LOVED his spirit! His character WAS the movie if you ask me. Gary Farmer did an excellent job bringing this chacter to life. I had seem this movie years ago and wanted to own it. The girls at work and I send a care package every few months to Iraq to the guys there. This time I included this movie, it may just give someone the same great feeling it gave me....which was, "I wish I had the heart, and courage to be who I really am inside."

Even if you are not Native American you will like this because it is a comedy! If you like spoofs on cultures like Joe Dirt is on White Trash then you should like this movie.

Chris Eyre does it again. He just knows how to make you laugh with his Native American Humor and Gary Farmer is the the best one to do if. He is soooo believable in this almost believe it could have really happened with A. Martinez.

had seen it before at the native american museum-great job by all, and I had to get a copy. I have seen many of the actors in other productions and they always potray their characters truly. I highly reccommend this to anyone who wants to see more than the powwow or teepee indian portrayed on the tv.

I've been watching this film over and over for years. It's heart-warming without being predictable. I find it delightful. It's funny, poignant, and wise -- with a little bit of magic - - a good road flick. Philbert, Buddy, Bonnie, Rabbit, the kids, the chief, and, of course, Protector, the war pony.

This is a movie that makes you feel good. It was never meant to be a huge statement film about Indian people. It's quite different than the book, and I enjoy them both.

Sooo, if you like to feel good about the little guys winning a few small battles against the big guys, get this flick.

It depicts somewhat of life on the rez. I have always wanted to purchase the DVD but was not able to find it in regular stores.

i got this movie for my in-law in 07 on dec 31st and never got it i dont like beening called the bad guy whin i pay for something and then don't get it i love buying form ebay but i dont love haveing what i pay for not giveing to me thank you for all that you did 9845april

I don't usually buy movies (I own 3), but this is one of my favorite movies of all time. It has adventure, drama, politics, romance. It's hilarious yet poignant. and lots of fun. and perfect casting. Add native American philosophy plus the chemistry between the brothers Gary Farmer, gentle philospher, and A. Martinez, hotheaded political activist, and you have a great movie.

I first watched this film for the first time on the Independent Film Channel (IFC). Then I bought it on DVD. This film is a really great story about American Indian life. It is a funny, touching and a meaningful film.

I bought this DVD to replace my VHS version. Films like this are important to us as Native People. The service was great and the DVD was new, still sealed. Very fast delivery after purchase.

I don't look for big productions. I don't have to have billion dollar special effects. Just give me a good story, one that is told well. This tale of two Native American both from the same reservation both with different lifes and different goals. The two take a road trip together and they both gain so much from the journey together. One is Political active , the other following the old ways of his people. trying to be a warrior in modern times. This mismatch of friends make for an unusual road trip and a movie I can watch over and over.

Happy with my purchase however it took a VERY LONG time before it was even shipped (even after it was paid for upfront and fast). Still a nice transaction.

Why did I decide to buy it? In a nutshell, it was a GREAT deal price-wise, on a great movie. I was tired of the hassle of trying to find it in a local store, then pay a decent price for it. If it's not a recent blockbuster that made millions, stores have no reason to carry it. Thought I'd give EBay a shot, and there it was. Reasonable price, even without having to bid on it, just hassle-free, buy it now. Brand new, good shape, plays great. What more can I say? Like, Love, Dislike, has nothing to do with this review, just the convenience of finding a hard-to-find item.

Gary Farmer in another very good performance. This movie is entertaining because it doesn't "hollywood" Indian performers with white actors. Story is good and flows gracefully.

Classic road trip movie with a Native American theme. Gary Farmer shines as Philbert Bono the gentle giant with a pure spiritual heart. He teaches his old school friend Buddy Redbow, played by A. Martinez, that sometimes fighting for the right thing can also carry you away from the heartplace that started the fight in the first place. One of the first films to depict the struggle of native americans to break sterotypes and still remain connected to traditional beliefs. The film is around 15 years young and though the acting and storyline are timeless, the dialogue and production do not hold up as well. It will make you cry and make you cheer. Well worth the ride and a must for anyone collecting 1st American film. Great cameo by ledgendary actor Graham Greene is worth watching the whole movie for!
