The book is a compilation of interviews aired on PBS. The author Joseph Campbell is interviewed by Billy Moyers, PBS news analyst/commentator. The book accurately transcribes the actual videos with little imbellishment. I am using the book as part of a theological study in a
Methodist Sunday School Class. It provides an excellent stimulus for great theological discussion.

This book studies the power and message of the hero story in myth. From the ancient Greek stories to present day Star Wars. Joseph uncovers the constants in each story and uses this to lead us to our own truth!

I found this book to be enlightening. A friend of mine gave me this book. I picked it up a couple of times and put it aside. while I glanced through the book one day, I came upon a qoute "follow your bliss" Campbell stated that if you follow that which makes you happy in life, you can never be led down the wrong path. I decided to read the book from beginning to end. What a book, this man had an amazing view of life. If you haven't read this book, buy it you will love it!

When I was looking for this book I was pleased to find it at a wonderful price and ordered it without haveing to bid and wait to see if I won. The book came much quicker then I thought it would and is in wonderful condition. I will buy from this same seller next time I'm in need of a particular book as long as they have access to it.

I love mythology, and Campbell writes in a down-to-earth logical way about myths and how they evolved into the morals to which we adhere today.
I bought this book because I had borrowed it from a friend and fallen in love with it and its mythological clarity!

Campbell and Moyers collaborations is great and a wonderful way of looking at spirituality. It brought me into a new way of thinking about religion. The illustration in the volume makes the images come to life. The Gift of the Goddess it good reading for everyone. This book is excellent for a study group who would like to explore different aspects of why modern man believes what we believe. My spiritual director recommended this book to me originally and it peaked my interest. I find it very enjoyable.
