This book studies the power and message of the hero story in myth. From the ancient Greek stories to present day Star Wars. Joseph uncovers the constants in each story and uses this to lead us to our own truth!

Joseph Campbell uses world mythology -- and also psychology, history, religion and institutions -- to explore humanity's common need and impulse to find the deeper meaning of life. Campbell is a passionate, observant humanitarian and intellectual. The Power of Myth is a transcript of his discussions with Bill Moyers, which have been aired many times on public television stations over the past 15 years. The book is also a summary of his more academic works (all of which are nevertheless accessible to all of us). This is a wonderful book.

Great companion to the DVD of the series which was originally seen on PBS. Campbell has a lot of information on the subject to share with anyone interested in world mythology, and he will be sorely missed.
