Possum's Harvest Moon by Anne Hunter (1996, Illustrated, Reinforced Hardcover)

‘Possum’s Harvest Moon’ is a wonderful and sweet story that introduces children to natural harvest season themes, with exceptionally beautiful illustrations. As a possum notices the changes in the harvest moon and night time sky, he decides to have one last party with his animal friends to celebrate before the long cold winter time. At first his friends are too busy gathering their winter stores to join him. By the end of the story though, they all join him and the animals all join together to celebrate. The illustration of the possum, the raccoon, the mice, crickets and frogs, wearing their little hats for the moonlight party is so sweet. The artwork is quite beautiful and endearing, with deep harvest colors, and pen and ink and watercolor illustrations that create a moonlit magic atmosphere, very soft and sweet for children, and not scary at all. The illustrations are the kind that both children and adults can enjoy together.
