Poseidon (2006)...snooze

Well, it did have some tension, which it really could have built upon and become a great movie. But, sad to say, it fell far short of any and all expectations. Some of the lines are so cheezy and trite that I actually had to laugh out loud (yes, while people were dying and fighting for their lives). I wanted to fast forward to the end and skip it, but it was like a bad train wreck: you want to look away, but you just keep watching anyway. Save your money and don't buy this DVD (don't even rent it!). Go out and buy the original from 1972 with Gene Hackman and Ernest Borgnine. It is a classic, almost cult-like film that has legions of devotees, somewhat resembling "Rocky Horror Picture Show". It is worth watching, very campy and entertaining. As with most remakes, Poseidon (2006) tries to fix what ain't broken...save your time and money.
