Primus is not your average everyday band. They are probably best known for writing the opening tune to South Park. Yes, I said South Park. They cannot be compared to another band. Their musical style is all of their own. And you have to have an ear and an appreciation for their style. I have seen them open up for RUSH's Roll The Bones Tour. It is quite a show to see. The performance is even different from anything else you will ever see or hear. To put them in a musical category is just wrong. They are in a category of their own. There is A TON of HEAVY bass guitar and electric bass cello, banjo, and mandolin as well as some spectacular drum work on this album. With that combination of instruments being said, you gotta know the arrangement is very different. You just don't see many bands that fall outside the "guitar, drums, singer realm". The lyrics are strange, bizaar and sometimes even funny. But somehow turns out to be some real good music. And for being just a 3 man band, they can tear up some music. If you are amongst the adventurous types when it comes to listening to new music, I would say to get this CD. Every song on the album has just grown on me. I am glad I own it. I recommend hearing Mr Krinkle, DMV, Pork Soda, My Name Is Mud and Pork Chop's Little Ditty. This album is definately for those who are very open minded about musicians and musicianship. They are indeed a talented band if you can get past the uniquness and weirdness. Enjoy!
