If you are like me and grew up on TV reruns of the old B&W Popeye cartoons, this two-disc DVD will bring back many fond memories. Unlike many other previous Popeye compilations, these films are in pristine condition. And while the previous set (1933-1938) covered more ground, this latest volume has the Fleisher Studio animators in tip-top form. Spanning over 30 of their best Popeye theatrical shorts, you'll see the first cartoon appearances of the Jeep, Poopdeck Pappy, and the Goons from Goon Island. Also included are numerous commentaries, the third Fleischer-produced color Popeye cartoon, and short documentaries on the Fleischer Studio and Mae Questel, the voice of Olive Oyl and Betty Boop. This a DVD collection no Popeye fan should be without.

Beautifully-digitally remastered from the original cartoon reels! Each episode
is in chronological order. They look brand new as they appeared in theaters
in the halcyon days of 1938-1940 when my parents were children, before WWII.
Along with Volume One(Popeye the Sailor: 1933-1938), these DVD's are
a must have for any classic movie/cartoon collection.

Popeye The Sailor Volume 2 Fantastic Pre-WW2 Oldness!I love these cartoons,I watched them when I was young.I have Volume 1 and I highly recommend this set as well.
I especially like the 1938' "Plumbing Is A Pipe" when Wimpy says: "Gosh-I Forgot My Gloves"
It reminds me of the 1938' "The House Builder Uppers" which is on Vol.1
I give this a 5 stars all the way-great cartoons with uncomprable quality!
