a good old-fashioned quilt book
Being that it was published in 1973, it would be old-fashioned. But the first part of the book sounds just like my grandma telling me how you make a quilt, in detail, and the rest of the book is made up of a ton of pieced patterns for every block your grandma ever made. The patterns for the templates are well drawn and traceable, and most have suggestions for the whole quilt. The directions are well written and precise and this book is just what I wanted - a source for patterns my grandma did use in her quilting.
