The Polar Express (DVD, 2008, 3-D)

Don't get me wrong, I think this is one of the best movies made for Christmas but those glasses that you have to wear are just too much! One eye is a dark blue and the other one is red, at 1st (the first 15 minutes or so) aren't too bad but after that it makes you crazy! you can't wait to get them off of you! I know there's another way to make 3D movies using polarized lenses, just like sunglasses, they should have done it that way if possible.
In short, the movie is great but the glasses kill any thrill of the 3d experience.

This is an awesome movie. It is perfect for any age. My daughter wants the new 3-D one for Christmas and now that I have it, I can't for her to open it.

We bought it for our 4 youngest grandsons. They loved it! We loved it too!They had the original one but we thought it would be great in 3D....and it was.Our grandsons absolutely love this movie!!!!

MY SON JUST TURNED 6 YRS OLD ON DEC 3. HE HAS LOVED TRAINS SINCE HE WAS 18 MONTHS. THE POLAR EXPRESS IS PROBABLY HIS ULTIMATE FAVORITE MOVIE. WE HAVE WATCHED IT AT LEAST A COUPLE HUNDRED TIMES. THE 3-D VERSION OF THE POLAR EXPRESS IS ALSO VERY GOOD. IT WAS A LITTLE DIFFICULT FOR MY SON TO VIEW THE DVD THROUGH THE 3-D GLASSES AT FIRST BECAUSE OF THE RED/BLUE RAYS. IT TOOK HIM A COUPLE OF TIMES WATCHING THE DVD TO SEE THE 3-D EFFECTS. I WOULD DEFINITELY SUGGEST TO WATCH THE ORIGINAL POLAR EXPRESS MOVIE, THEN THE 3-D MOVIE TO APPRECIATE THE 3-D EXPERIENCE THE MOST.

I have the original dvd of The Polar Express & this by far exceeds that one. I love how they put it together to be a 3D format.

Loved the special effects. Like with any 3D movie, there are parts that are better than others, but I absolutely loved the movie in the 3D format.

it was a fun filled family movie and my little man loves trains he watched the entire movie wich is abnormal for my 2 yr old to sit still that long it was great

If you had seen the original Polar Express which alone looks like its coming out of the screen, then when you see the 3D version it surpasses the Original as far as viewing and allowing you to be a child again and see a Movie as it should be seen. The original story line is well created and the voice of Tom Hanks and his likeness in the movie really does add to the story line of a child his beliefs and what he wants to believe during Christmas. The Movie really brings out the Holidays for me in looking through the eyes of a child and the wanting to believe creates the story with a twist. Not telling what it is You have to see the Movie. Purchased the movie to experience 3-D effect, however, 3-D version is impossible to watch with the enclosed glasses. Fortunately, the normal DVD version was included.

we had the original movie and loved it. we wanted the 3-d version to go with the new hd tv. this is an excellent family movie for any time of the year. my kids watch this movie even when it's not the christmas season.

Kept reading the reviews and couldn't decide if to buy this dvd or not. Bought it and shouldn't have wasted the money. There were parts of this that you could see the 3D, but it is very hard to watch. Faces are outlined double with green and over all this isn't worth the money. We will not be watching this one again, we will watch the orginal. We watch this movie several times a year and love it. Really too bad this 3D one isn't better quality, could have been really nice. Adults and kids both were disappointed in this 3D movie. You may like it but for us it was a waste of money and time. Our opinion is just stick with the orginal.

The content of the movie, Polar Express, is beyond wonderful...the best of the best; but don't waste your time on the 3-D version. You get very few moments of brilliance in an otherwise blurry display. Even after adjusting the brightness, as recommended, my husband and I sat there desperately wanting it to improve. We actually sat through the whole movie not willing to give up while occasionally trying different adjustments to the TV only to end up disappointed. I just don't think that the technology for a quality 3-D picture with blue and red glasses is here yet. Get the regular version and enjoy a holiday masterpiece!

This DVD came to me on luxury box within 4 standard 3D glasses. The picture and sound are excellent. Overall, I'd recommend the DVD especially for your kids. Be believe kids!

We had Polar Express before Katrina and we finally got it back, the Grandkid love it. It keeps our 20 month occupied for the duration of the movie (doesn't move).

This movie is one of my kids' favorite movies. They watch it all the time, even when it is not even close to Christmas.

One of the best things about the original, was the grafics,the reflections in the windows, etc. That was all lost in the 3-D version. The only real 3-D part was the dollar bill flying out of the train. Very, very, dissappointing! It made me want to turd it off all the way thru, because I knew the original was so much better. I watched it hoping it would get better, all the way thru. VERY DIssappointed !

The Polar Express is a good movie, but the reason I purchased the 3D copy is because of it being 3D. If you don't own the first release, then of coarse by the 3D copy, but if you already own it, then pass it by.

This is by far one of the best computer animated movies ever made. It has a great story, characters, and of course, Tom Hanks. The 3D version is no different. My only complaint would be the quality of the glasses that are included with the movie. All in all, this is a great family movie. I would recommend it to anyone with children, it is an instant classic.
