Pocahontas (DVD, 2005, 2-Disc Set)

This has always been my favorite Disney movie of all time. It's one you can watch over and over again. This movie is for kids of all ages.

The songs are wonderful, as well as the characters. It incorporates many themes like love, humor, adventure, and drama. There's something for everyone.

I definitely recommend this movie to anyone.

I never had an interest in watching this movie. It wasn't until I heard "Colors of the Wind" on the Disney Princess Collection CD that I decided to watch it with my three year old. My daughter enjoyed the movie, but I loved it even more. The music is beautiful, and Judy Kuhn's voice is amazing. Mel Gibson also sings a song with Kuhn, "If I Never Knew You" and I thought his voice was pretty amazing too. This movie strays from some of the historical facts/legends of the real Pocahontas, but who cares. Most of us would probably be bored and depressed if the true story of Pocahontas was told in this movie. This is a beautiful love story of two people from two-different worlds who meet under unfortunate circumstances. And the ending isn't predictable like all the other Disney happily-ever-after movies which makes this movie even more heart-felt and intriguing. I also felt Disney did a wonderful job in sending a message to our children about respecting the land that we have been blessed with. Although some see the portrayal of the greedy settlers as racism (which really it was only one governor in the story who was greedy), I saw it as a lesson for us not to take nature and our surroundings for granted.
The animals in the movie were cute and entertaining for the youngsters; but the story itself is for adults and was beautifully told in a Disney kind-of-magical-way.
And for those who are thinking of buying Pocahontas 2: Journey to A New World... I enjoyed Pocahontas 2: Journey to A New World. Although it got a lot of bad reviews, I thought it was worth adding to my Disney collection. You get most of the original characters (minus Mel Gibson as John Smith), and Judy Kuhn again sings beautifully in the movie. I think a lot of people are disappointed with the ending, which historically is the path that Pocahontas does choose....I don't want to spoil it for those who haven't seen it. Needless to say, it doesn't quite measure up to the original Pocahontas but I thought it was interesting to find out what happens to Pocahontas and John Smith. Younger children will absolutely love part 2 because the story involves Meeko and Percy quite a bit, and they are pretty quirky!

Disney has done it again. This is a wonderful film about friendship, love and making the right decisions. As with all Disney films it is one that the kids can watch over and over and not get bored with it. There are a few characters that add some humor to the film as well. As far as the music score, it is excellent! One of the best soundtracks of any of the Disney films. If you are thinking about buying this movie, do it, you will not be disappointed!

was a little suprised to see the "security" tape missing from the top of the case. The disks appear to be in good shape but looks re-packaged

Pocahontas was one of those Disney animations that broke boundaries with its use of watercolor in animated film. So, for the Disney fan, this is a must-have for your DVD collection. What I like most about this DVD set is that the film comes in two different presentations: the original film release and the film with the additional song "If I Never Knew You". The longer version is a must-see as it adds more depth to the Pocahontas/John Smith love story.

This seller sent a BOOTLEG movie. Ok fine, but it would not work in any DVD or my PS3. I opened a claim with PayPal who did nothing in my behalf. I was scammed and both EBAY and PAYPAL seem to accept this type of behavior so I guess it is no longer against any policy to provide false information about sales?? I also guess it is now ok to defraud the movie industry.

It is another example of a great movie by Disney. I mainly bought this for my 3 year old granddaughter and she loves it.

This is one of the Disney films that didn't play as huge of a part in my childhood because I found it hard to relate to but I picked it up not out of interest for the film's composer, Alan Menken, and not only did I find a music score that can dig into my soul and give me goosebumps like most other films can't, but it also delivered a strong moral message and the film re-assures us that animation can still be created at as high of a quality as some of Hollywood's most notable films.

Any Disney DVD collector will want to have this Disney Masterpiece in their collection! The animation is great! The story is a classic love story taken straight from history. The main character's pets (Meiko and Percy) are the scene stealers throughout the movie! A wonderful film! Soundtrack is great as well!

A great addition to any Disney DVD collector. Part of the "Disney Renassaince", this is one of best animations of that era.

My daughter is 3yrs old and loves this movie. I always look on ebay to see if I can find the Disney and Pixar DVD's cheaper than going to some of the larger stores, usually I can. I love this movie and will watch it over and over with my little one!

This movie is a great movie for a small to medium child. It really catches the eye of the child and draws them into what they are watching. I remember back when I was younger and loved sitting down to watch this movie. It shows the child watching the movie that you can love everyone, and everyone is the same no matter what race you are, while keeping the child entertained. I highly recommend this movie!

This was purchased to have on hand when my granddaughter visits. The condition of the DVD is perfect. However, this is one Disney movie that I had never seen before. It is good, but I didn't find it to be one of the best Disney movies. My granddaughter liked it, but wasn't quite as interested in this one as some of her other children's movies.

awesome movie when i was a child but not one that stuck with me as i got older like other disney movies. it was fun with the side kick characters but as now you just notice how mundane the main characters are without the many, many side kicks like the raccoon, humming bird, and wiggins. still, for kids it is fun and they make it so. :)
