Since then, despite a consistent run of hits and numerous critical plaudits, she continues to languish in the shadow of contemporary R&B's lesser talents. PLAYLIST: THE VERY BEST OF... is a useful recap of Amerie's first two albums, both collaborations with producer Rich Harrison. Mixing her sultry urban balladry with retro-flavored go-go and New Orleans funk, this collection is a fine introduction to a greatly underappreciated talent.
