The more things change, the more they stay the same.

I bought this CD as a MFSL Gold disc. I am personally blown away by the dynamic sound reproduction that MFSL and Remastered Gold CD's offer. MFSL producing Gold CDs has actually opened my ears to a much broader appreciation of music than if they had never been created. Bands like The Who, Jefferson Airplane, Blind Faith, and Traffic--which are all in my MFSL collection--probably wouldn't have been, if not for MFSL. The same can be said for John Lennon. I've owned several Beatles discs in the past, but they've either been lost, stolen or sold, other than The White Album. I purchased Plastic Ono Band not really knowing what to expect, but from the reviews I'd read, it apparently is the best of Lennon's solo work. Having listened to it for the first time this morning I am amazed at how his stabs at politics, education, religion, and socio-economic discrepancies still are right on target 30+ years later. It's as if we've had our heads stuck in the sand this whole time. That right there is a pretty powerful statement about this Disc. Another thing that had gotten lost for me over the years is just how good John Lennon's voice is. His thought-provoking lirics aside, the guy just has a wonderful singing voice. Buy Plastic Ono Band, and buy it on MFSL Gold.
