Publisher's Note A valuable practical planner for all gardeners, What Plant Where shows the reader quickly and clearly which plants will grow well in a particular garden area or give a desired decorative effect. Each plant recommendation is shown by a full-color photo along with all the information needed to guarantee the perfect choice. More than 1,300 full-color photos.
What plant where Features over 400 color photographs of plant choices Builds on the success of What Plant Where and What Perennial Where to make a valuable gardening reference library.
Industry Reviews This resource book will provide guidance for gardeners who are making plant-purchasing decisions for garden sites by specific size of plants, soil conditions needed, amount of sunlight or shade, growing position, foliage color, season-specific features, growing sites, and special categories (e.g., fragrance, hedging screening, and berries for birds). An index grid leads the reader to a section of the book with specific plants for the category, e.g., perennials, climbers, shrubs, conifers, and trees, selected in the grid. The text by leading British garden writer Lancaster is expertly done. Along with hundreds of excellent color photos that illustrate the selected plant, the grower is given individual information on plant size, hardiness, and light requirements. While this guide seems most useful as a circulating book, some will think it should be relegated to the reference collection as it has the colorful DK reference aura. Regardless of where you keep it, this volume fills a niche in the plant collections in most libraries. Dale Luchsinger, Athens Area Technical Inst., Ga. Library Journal (11/01/1995)
