  Not Just O.C. Music Anymore
Review created: 09/27/05

Death Cab has been around for a while and probably would have broken out even if they weren't mentioned on The O.C. almost every episode. Though this album lacks the continuity and overall impact of their previous work like my favorite 'Transatlanticism', it's still better than 90% of what is out there.

My personal favorite is 'Soul Meets Body', an upbeat song that is somewhat of a departure from typical DCC. That's not to say they are morbid, they just have never sounded this happy. 'I Will Follow You Into the Dark' is an acoustic gem that reminds me a lot of 'A Lack of Color' from their earlier album.

It's a little uneven especially in the late stages of the album but there's enough here to recommend. Seth Cohen would say the same.

Great CD from a Great Band
Review created: 04/10/06

If you love indie rock and a band that refuses to sell-out in today's world of brain-washed bands, you will fall in love with DC4C's newest CD. If you listen to some tracks off their old records, it is easy to see that DC4C has stayed true to themselves and what they have been doing extremely well for years: making some great music. The most interesting thing about Plans is how almost every song can cover whatever mood you are in: sad or happy, tired or up-beat. Great riffs and piano playing, along with lead singer/songwriter/frontman Ben Gibbard's unique and polite voice make for not only an album to fall in love with, but a great band to fall in love with. ENJOY!

  A very interesting band.
Review created: 07/06/08

We have a neat new radio station here in LA on 100.3 FM. That's where I heard Death Cab for Cutie. On a whim I decided to buy the CD from which I had fallen in love with one paricular song. But guess what. The rest of the CD is equally as interesting. Worth a listen.

  Soul Meets Body
Review created: 03/19/08

Very solid indie pop album and one of Death Cab's best. This could be a 5 star album but I have to give it 4 due to the fact that it doesn't push it's limits like good indie music should. Every song fits within the band's comfort zone. If you read my other reviews you know that I'm a huge fan of experimenting with music. Just a little tweaking here and a little more edge there and we'd have a masterpiece. Still, I recommend it. 4 cool little stars.

  This band upstages themselves everytime.
Review created: 12/17/07

This is my favorite band and this is their best album. Very few bands come along that when they come out with something new it is not a piece... Most bands hit a wall when they have a good album and then try to follow it up. Death Cab, however, breaks this rule with each release. They somehow are able to keep to their basic roots and feel of music but with each album and song it is new and refreshing. Lead vocalist Ben Gibbard is without a doubt one of the great modern song writers and it shows all the more with "Plans". If you don't have this album get it and be amazed. Also, check out "the Postal Service" which is a side project Ben co-created (that is probably my fav album to date).

I love the eclectic-ness that I can always expect to hear when buying a new DCFC album. Lots of mellow songs, and my favorite is definitely "Soul Meets Body".

I have to agree with everyone else on this. The CD is mellow and beautifully written. It flows like poetry and you can listen to it from start to finish without skipping a song.

NOTE: You can find Deathcab merchandise at my store (http://stores.ebay.com/kelshideaway)if you are interested.

  I Will Follow You...
Review created: 09/19/06

This is my first Death Cab for Cutie CD and I have to say I'm impressed! I Will Follow You Into the Dark is such a beautiful and soul bearing song. Crooked Teeth is also a great song. What Sarah Said also makes you contemplate things. I really enjoyed this CD.

Plans for Death Cab? I hope so.

Plans is by far my favorite Death Cab for Cutie album. The earlier albums have their moments, but Plans has a more overall enjoyable quality to it, leaving my itchy track-skipping finger resting at a comfortable beat-tapping pace instead.

  Wonderful! Absolutely Fabulous!

I love this album. Unfortunately I've just discoverd this band even though I hear they have several albums out. The songs are well written, the lyrics amazing, and the sound of the singing is spectacular. I saw Death Cab on the Henry Rollin's show and it was just two of the members playing accoustic guitar and it sounded wonderful which tells me the album isn't overly produced. The lead singer's voice sounds exactly the same as it does on the album. What a treat! I can't stop listening to this fantastic album. Thanks to the seller for selling it to me. I love it so much I think I'll go listen to it right now! Mandy Z.

  Simply Brilliant
Review created: 01/29/06

Been a fan of this band for a long time and they have always had great music. "Plans" went with a different label is now more mainstream and even getting radio airtime. Some wil cry "sell out" but as long as the music is still this good, who cares what label they are on? I've never been able to describe this CD without using the word brilliant. "Plans" is classic Death Cab for Cutie and in my opinion is their best release yet and much in the same style as their last CD "Transatlanticism."
