A Place to Start
I bought this book and read a large portion of it for a graduate-level adult education class. Caffarella provides a workable, practical way of thinking about the various aspects of educational program design. The writing is a little dry, but there are several charts that, while not totally comprehensive, do provide useful ideas. The "workbook-style" questions at the end of each chapter are nothing to write home about, but might help to focus thinking. What matters as a reader of this book is to consider the elements that are relevant to any one program and think through the practical development of those elements. This book provides a good place to start in terms of thinking through the various aspects of designing a program, and it can function as a useful reference of ideas, as well as providing citations of other writers and publications in the field.
