Rose McGowan (CHARMED) plays Cherry, a go-go dancer whose night is interrupted by a vicious zombie attack that leaves her missing a leg. Her ex-boyfriend, Wray (Freddy Rodriguez, SIX FEET UNDER), takes charge, fashioning her a new leg from a machine gun and killing zombies along the way. PLANET TERROR plays as a pleasing ode to the horror and exploitation films that once played in grimy grindhouses across the country. Rodriguez splashes plenty of blood, guts, and gore across the screen, while also taking the plot into some wonderfully bizarre territory. PLANET TERROR was originally released as part of the GRINDHOUSE double feature with Quentin Tarantino's DEATH PROOF.

"Planet Terror" is Robert Rodriguez's half of "Grindhouse" and it is taking grindhouse cinema to the max. The movie do not make sense in any aspect but anyone who appreciates will have a great time throughout. Rose McCowen machine guns sure is catchy and memorable but other characters are freaky yet memorable like the colored co-ordinated Anesthetist-lesbian wife, the happy-go-lucky babysitter twins and of course the Hagues brothers formed a feud with secret recipes, Tammy by Fergie and the pervert by Tarantino. The cameo is always fun and scene stealing. The bonus feature is a little thin similar to Death Proof. However, the movie itself is already a big winner which makes up for it. I do like the trailer as I am a sucker for it. The transfer quality is outstanding and it is definitely a must have, even if you skip Deathproof, this is a good buy!! Sorry guys but I am taking the opposing side on this one! I didn't enjoy this one as much as I thought I would. The only thing that carried the movie to me was the casting of Freddy Rodriguez (Six Feet Under & Briefly on the New Poseidon) as I am a fan of his. Otherwise this was just too whacked out for me which really is typical of Tarintino movies like Pulp Fiction (which I didn't like either). Comedy and superhuman stunts were interwoven into this film which reduced its entertainment value to me! Ahhh, maybe you should just read the other reviews on this one! The movie is weird, but keeps you watching it. Hubby loves all of Tarrentinos movies, I got it for him thinking I wouldnt care to watch it, but I did and it wasnt bad, interesting enough to keep ya watching, lots of "zombies" and the humans get to live all together in a safe place...if you like em weird then you gotta see it. We suffered through the whole thing hoping it would get better - it didn't! Review ID: 10000000007325153 Was this review helpful? Report this review |
