Planet of the Apes TV Series (DVD, 2006, 4-Disc Set)

I've always loved the "Apes" sagas. Now having them on dvd--especially the series that was repeated on tv only a few times--is fantastic. I enjoy the concept of the series that apes are in charge and humans serve them. There were only a few episodes, but if you are an "Ape" lover, you'll want this for your collection.

I watched this show as a kid when it first aired on TV in 1974 and enjoy it very much. This show is concentrated around 2 surviving astronauts that crash back on earth in the year 3084 and end up befriending one talking ape. The make up is of the same style of the first 5 Planet of the apes movies that were originally released in theaters from 1968 to 1973. Too bad this show only lasted half a season. It kind of leaves you hanging on how the series may have developed.

The stories were very well written.

This is a good show. I don't understand why it was cancelled after one season. The conflicts between the species reminds one of present day racists. I rented this series on DVD. It is just as good as I remember it. Two astronauts are struck in the future where the apes rules and humans are only good for slavery. If you can't see it on the Sci-fi channel either rent or buy it. The make-up is surprising good considering how primitive it was by today's standard.

I LIKE THIS DVD BECAUSE I USED TO WATCH IT ON TV WHEN I WAS A KID. I WAS UNAWARE THIS WAS ON DVD UNTIL I CAME ACROSS IT WHILE SEARCHING FOR ANOTHER ITEM.SEEING THE DVD'S BROUGHT BACK ALOT OF GOOD CHILDHOOD MEMORIES.

My husband loves the craziest shows and I can always find them on Ebay. This particular auction was a great find at a great price and was so well executed by the seller I have added them as one of my few favorite Ebay sellers, they are worth coming back to again. Thanks again Ebay and sellers like this for keeping my confidence in Ebay.

I used to watch the series when i was kid..I still enjoy the planet of the apes to this day....I received the DVD in a few days..I think the planet of the apes are very creative from its time.

Sorry for the corny title. Even if you're not a die hard Planet of the Apes fan, you'll like the Planet of the Apes TV show. Great acting, writing, set decoration along with some story lines that seemingly involve socially significant issues of the time (1974) make this an enjoyable show.

A timeless one of a kind classic. Stars Roddy McDowell who is deceased now.
For this reason I'm thrilled to own this. It was happily affordable. It's an exciting series done the only way possible PERFECT!!!

It was fun to watch the 14 episodes. Unfortunately, many of the social, political and medical problems addressed in these episodes in the 1970's are still valid in 2008. The writing was not as well done as the original movies, but still interesting. The film quality is dated by todays standards, but was still well done. Still is better than many of the programs showing weekly at this time.

When I was a child , I saw on tv this series and I like a lot , I never expect to buy some day .

This was a great set for any fan of the planet of the apes movies.The only complaint I have is there are only 14 shows .I wish they would have not cancelled the series,and would have made more....

I ENJOYED THE PLANET OF THE APES TV SERIES. IT WAS ABOUT 2 ASTRONAUTS WHO GO THROUGH A TIME WARP AND LAND BACK ON EARTH IN THE FAR FUTURE. THEY STRUGGLE TO SURVIVE AND ARE HELPED ALONG BY A RENEGADE CHIMPANZEE NAMED GALEN. IT WAS DIFFERENT FROM THE MOVIES IN THE FACT THAT HUMANS STILL HAVE SPEECH BESIDES THE OVERBEARING APES THAT DOMINATE THEM. IT WASN'T AS GOOD AS THE FILMS AND THE ENDING DIDN'T REALLY END RIGHT BECAUSE THEY DON'T SHOW HOW THEY GET OFF THE PLANET OR WHAT HAPPENS TO THE TWO ASTRONAUTS, BUT THIS IS BECAUSE THE SERIES WAS SHORT-LIVED AND ONLY LASTED 14 EPISODES(13 IN THE US). I WOULD WATCH IT AGAIN.

TO REKINDLE MY CHILDHOOD MEMORIES; I WAS LOOKING FORWARD TO FRIDAY EVENINGS WHEN THE T.V. SERIES WAS ON AT 8.00 P.M. I ENJOYED ALL THE CHARACTERS

I enjoyed this movie when I was younger.My cousin and I always wanted to go to this planet.She and I will enjoy this on Movie night when I reunite with her after 3 yrs away.It will surely surprise her.I received my movie really quick and in great shape as described,THANKS

I bought the DVD, Planet of the apes Tv series for a Christmas gift. I could not give it as a gift because the case came smashed up. Also one of the dvd's was broken.
