The Plain Truth (DVD, 2005)

For a made for TV movie, it is surprisingly good. The plot is well done and has a few unexpected twists. Set in Amish country, the subject matter is fairly unusual and quite interesting. Mariska Hargitay gives an excellent performance. I would recommend it.

As A jodi Picoult fan, I have most of her books and the ones I dont have I read from the library.
First if you havent read Jodi, I HIGHLY recommend it! Very well written books on hard subjects to face.
Most movies made from books are cheesy, or not like you expected. Without revealing too much, I will say this was better than I expected. As a Lifetime movie, this was done very well and the characters are well portrayed. They couldnt quite get the essence or mood of the book, but I dont think any movie can will only a couple hour time span.
All in all a great movie as well as a great book!

Seem great to see that movie on DVD . It was a great movie and I liked the whole thing! I liek anything that involves with Amish culture anyways pretty much and I must say the saler was honest and fair ,. And I will buy off her again sometime as well. And I like Lifetime Movies also !

I loved the movie and would recommend it to everyone. Its a great family movie and contains none of the filth that a lot of movies today contain. Mariska Hargitay of Law and Order: SVU fame, was outstanding in her role as attorney, Ellie Hathaway. Ellie stays on the Amish farm of the family of the teenager she is defending who is accused of murdering her baby. If you want a great family movie, don't hesitate to get this one. I can't think of anything I don't like about it, except maybe it could have been longer!

I was just happy with the product when I recieved it.It was the real thing not a fake or a make over .I am very very pleased with this selling and wound no dout do busniess with them again.

The reason I bought this movie was because I saw it on Lifetime a few years ago and just loved the movie. Mariska Hargitay is my favorite actress and the fact that she played the lead character, is the reason I wanted this movie. The movie is great quality and I have watched it several times already. I can't say enough about how much I truely love this movie. It is the kind of movie that you can sit down and watch with the family. I have looked for this movie for a long time and I am so glad that I was able to find it and buy it!

The Plain Truth revolves around a PA Amish group. A single 18 year old girl is accused of murdering her newborn baby. Though the Amish don't trust outsiders an "outsider" lawyer is the only hope to find justice for this girl.
Mariska Hargitay as the lawyer gives a very convincing performance as she deals with the Amish way of life...no electricity, cell phones, or computers.
Big city vs Amish way of life leads to a quite an entertaining film.

I bought this dvd because I had read the book that this movie was based on. It is a very good movie. The seller was really really fast sending it.

The movie was brilliant, it gives a real perspective into the amish community, and Mariska Hargitay can actor anything she puts her mind to.

I HAD SEEN PART OF THE SHOW ON THE LMN AND WANTED TO SEE IT FROM THE BEGINNING. IT IS A VERY HEARTFELT MOVIE WITH SOME INTERESTING SURPRISES IN THE PLOT.

I loved the story line. Usually I can guess the ending of movies about halfway through them, but this one kept me guessing!!! Amazing...and cray ending! Gotta watch it!
I decided to buy this because my best friend said it was great, so I got it for her, and then watched it...love it!!!
