The plague dogs is a sad but warming story about 2 dogs that just want a home. When I was 9 or 10 I saw this movie and I loved it. Its probably not the best for 6 or 7 year olds because of swearing, little blood, and what violent things the dogs get into but otherwise you should get this really good movie! ITS A HAVE TO SEE

  Plague Dogs

Plague dogs is also a novel written by the same author of Watership Down and also animated by the same company. Two dogs escape a lab after having too much of the experiments that humans having been doing to them and try to find a home. But the humans are on the look out for the dogs, finding a hiding place is not easy. The two dogs get help from a crafty fox who obe of the dogs does not trsut, while the other says he's their only hope for survival. It seems to be placed in Scotland from it looks like, I think that's where Watership Down is placed too. It's rated PG-13 so its not for the little kids as it is violent in the way the dogs were treated and what happens during their escape, what humans will do to animals in the sake of experimenting on new things. Some scenes may be disrupting for some, so be warned when watching this movie. Though it is good in its plot and reality of it.

I promise 'The Plague Dogs' once watched, will never be forgotten. it will unrelentingly tear at your heart from the very 1st minute. made by the same creators of cult classic 'Watership Down' this film is far darker, not for children. strapping you into the mind of man's best friend, a seeker of nothing more than sweet sanctity on a journey through a mad-made hell. a beautiful and disturbing masterpiece.

I enjoyed this movie and couldn't find it for years, but finally remembered the name and bought a copy. It is very eye-opening and sad cartoon. Kind along the lines of Watership Down.

  An Amazing Movie
Review created: 08/01/09

I had never heard of The Plague Dogs until I watch Watership Down recently. I loved that movie so much that I decided to look into The Plague Dogs and I am happy I did. I watched the Uncut version on YouTube and decided that I had to buy this movie. I bought the 2004 release version which is cut but is still just as moving and touching as the first. If you are a fan of Watership Down, animation or just movies in general you will love this film. Go buy it and watch it.

  LOVE this Movie!
Review created: 12/23/08

From great animation to a touching and moving story, this movie will have you intrigued. You truly feel what these poor dogs are going through. I first was introduced to this film in my History of Animation class back in college and Immediately purchased the VHS. ( I lent the VHS to my boss recently and he's had it for 2 months and still hasn't returned it so I purchased the DVD.) I'm so happy this came out on DVD. Now it will last longer and take up less space! I do have the book but it's a little difficult to get into and I still haven't had the chance to read it but this animation is beautiful. Plague Dogs is a true piece of animation history!

  Outstanding movie!
Review created: 07/25/07

This is a dark and harrowing adventure that begins -- in darkness, with a mournful, echoing song -- on a scene with a noble black labrador swimming about in a steel tank, unable to get out or touch the bottom, constantly swimming, gasping for air, while researchers time his endurance before he drowns -- after which they revive him yet again, as they have many times before, to run the same drowning endurance test again tomorrow. This sets the tone for the film, and you'll find no comic relief to break the darkness, only a sequence of events to an inescapable conclusion. A heart-wrenching movie with superb animation, voice acting, and atmosphere. Positively a must-see!

I bought this dvd because i remember seeing this movie when i was really young(like 7-8) Took me a while to figure out the name of the movie i remembered, but when i figured it out, ebay had like fifteen copies of it for really cheap.
Great story that is a sad, dogs eye view of what humans are capable of doing. Even sadder than i remember, but now i want to find the book its based on.

  A Sad Tale
Review created: 06/04/06

A little known animated wonder about two dogs that escaped from a animal research lab. A very emotionally charged film. No happy ending. It really got me thinking about cruel treatment towards animals. Not a childrens film. A must see!!!!!!!
