A really good movie. I had already seen this movie but wanted a copy for myself. I am old enough to remember those days although some of them weren't good - just as these times are.

I’m from the Waxahachi, TX area. Waxahachi is a real place, the buildings and streets are real still today. The tornadoes are real as was the great depression and racial prejudice. In so many ways this movie is my families real life story. Folks really did pick cotton until their fingers bled and their backs were so stiff they couldn’t stand up and having a tractor meant the sky was the limit. The Christian principles and values by which these folks lived their lives were real. And people really did rise above the hate and the fear with respect and compassion for one another. This movie is a classic for the ages.

This movie deals with issues and has a great Christian theme. However, I would not recommend it for young children because there is KKK "justice" and adultery in it.

my mom loves places in the heart. she had it on tape but accidentaly gave it away so i thought id buy it for her online and this was a great place to get it. it came quick and the transaction was simple. she loves this movie i just cant get her to stop watching it! thanks much.

Classic movie, with huge star power! As I am a huge John Mal. fan! You will never regret owning this piece, i'd put it down as one of THE best movies out there and I am just so glad I had the oppourtunity to finally get this release on dvd.

I bought this DVD for my Step mother who was raised in Waxahachie, Tx during the depression. She only seen this once, so we bought her a DVD player and this movie. We made cry.

great story line, good old fashion movie. would recommend for a family movie, seen it years ago and wanted to watch it again, loved it then and still do..

Great movie and needed to add to my collection. Great time piece set in U.S. History - - paints a detailed image of life in America circa the Great Depression, images of life with racial tension and how a pieced together "family" is successful against the odds.

this is one of those movies that makes you glad for what you have. Sally Fields really makes you feel her pain. sorrow and desparation in what she HAS to do to keep her family together. casting once again was just right on the money.

A truly great story with exceptional acting by all the characters. Sally Fields, John Malkovich & Danny Glover are so authentic that you forget they're acting. This is a definite must see movie!

So many good things to say about this film like it's first rate cast of actors. The children remind me of the children from "To Kill a Mockingbird" and were so dear to the story line. The part at the Church about taking Communion was dead on to when I was a child not far from where the movie takes place. It was so real, the whole movie was so real & true to life.

You would have to have grown up in Texas to appreciate this but a favorite local actor Jerry Haynes or "Mr. Peppermint" to us kids who watched his children's show played the Deputy. Any boy or girl that grew up with Mr. Peppermint loved him and any film he was a part of was frosting on the cake.

I really enjoyed this movie. It's full of some of the finest actors and has a good story to tell.

I love this movie because it is such a good depiction of real life, and how people from very different backgrounds can work together for the good of all. Sally Fields does a wonderful, believalbe role. I got very "caught up" in her frustration, pain, and determination to make a terrible blow to her life work. Danny Glover was execelent also. Together, they make you want to stand up and cheer at their success. Great Entertainment for the whole family.

I have seen this movie before, ye3ars ago. I was rasied on a farm in south Georgia. And i know how hard it was for us to make a living. Great movie.

This has always been a favorite movie of my since my first viewing. A touching story of determination. A inciteful look at the South of our not so distant past. A hopeful story worth viewing again and again.

I looked for a long time to get this on DVD and couldn't find it. I decided to look once more and found the movie on EBay. The seller was fantastic to me. My shipment arrived right away. I will do business with them again.

A wonderful movie with everything that you would expect from a movie with such great ACTORS - It speaks to another time, when my parents were young, especially my mother and reminds of a time when things were very different and what it really means to have "GOOD FRIENDS", and that good always triumphs over evil.

I love this movie and will watch it many more times in the future.

I love this movie. it evokes a simpler time. but also shows strength and determination during one of America's worst crisis and the effect on black and white and the disabled.also the strength of women, facing how to survive in a mans world.I decided to buy it so that i could watch it any time i wish. I also bought one for my Grand daughter.I would recomend this movie.

Places in the Heart is one of my favorite movies. It is enjoyable and heart warming. It is an excellent movie that exposes hatred but reminds us consantly that there are forgiving and loving people in this world. Family does not mean just blood relative but ties that bind the heart.

Had previously seen the movie on TV and wanted to have the DVD. Found a seller on ebay and the price was right!
